Every year it’s the same story, trying to find a pair of comfortable winter shoes. The very best winter shoes I ever bought were a pair of red Campers about 8 years ago. I am still wearing them (they have become my rainy day, don’t-care-if-they-get-wet shoes). But the truth is that they are totally falling apart. Subsequent Campers I’ve bought have turned out to be less than comfortable, though I think I should have clued in earlier to the fact that I should have been buying them a size bigger if I wanted to wear them with socks. Duh.
And so! These are some Clarks I found the other day. I think I would have preferred them in red but they weren’t in stock. Though in person the “Clarks red” (seen on other models) is a dull burgundy and not like the colour in this photo. I think these ones will soon take the place of my favourite old Campers. And maybe one day I’ll finally break in the other two pair that are collecting dust since I hardly ever wear skirts with tights anymore. Very odd having black footwear though…
That’s pretty much me set up for winter wear. How about you?
I have a pair of boots I saw in Sainsburys at the beginning of the summer, almost knee high with a band of fake fur trim at the top, zip up, about a one inch very chunky heel and very sturdy rubber soles with big grooves, perfect for the snow. Oh, and some buckles, they’re a bit biker boot-y. I bought them on impulse as they were ridiculously cheap, about £20, and they’re really comfy and warm.

I sometimes see “fur”-trimmed boots here and wonder why the hell anyone would need them. Perhaps for going to Granada for some après ski?

I can’t find any that are comfortable and at least vaguely cute. Can’t wear any heel or negative heel, needs to be more or less flat or the stenosis screams. Can wear anything with a flexible bottom or narrow-ish toebox or the neuroma screams. Feh. All my cute shoes won’t work anymore, I’m reduced to ugly joggers with inserts. I love shoes, this has been a very sad time for my feet. Your black or red Clarks look like they might work, I’ll have to give them a shot. They are way cuter than the joggers, trust me.

Same old sneakers here. I keep saying that for my once a year holiday party outfit I will bite the bullet and go shopping at a transvestite website where I can find dressy shoes that will fit my gigantic feet and allow me to stand up without falling over, but I haven’t sprung yet.

I love my El Naturalistas!!! My first pair from 3 years ago are still in good shape but I bought 4new pairs in different colours in the Spring of this year to ensure I will have a good supply.
