First ever attempt making caramelised onions. Gotta say, they turned out pretty good. The trick, as everyone on Twitter kept telling me, was cooking low and slow. Bit like cooking spinach though. You start off with a whole whack of stuff and end up with a small bowlful. So what did you do today?

Your Instagram of this looked like a BUTT LOAD of onions.
Cheddar, I say, cheddar. Or the local equivalent.
Yesterday I walked three miles and tried not to throw up or start shaking uncontrollably after two days of actually feeling safe in my own country. As safe as you can be with Covidiots idioting.
I also finished the continuing ed course I have to take to renew my license except for doing the test. It’s a vote of hope that one day there will be a working vaccine and I can work again.

It was 1.5 kilos of onions! And all I got was a small bowl in the end.
Good you’re walking. I’ve barely been out of the house in two weeks. Working vaccine? Maybe a year from now?

Fauci says April at the earliest. I went three miles today and barely saw a soul on the street, because it’s drizzling. I’ve started going at sunset or in the rain, because you meet nobody. Got a whack of new batik masks for us. I do pushups and dips off retaining walls (the area is very hilly with big yards, and there are lots to choose from, I have favorites) and people call out to me from their front doors that I’m shaming them and now they have no excuse not to exercise if there’s someone doing that in the rain, which is fun.

I just read that they are going to outlaw cloth masks here because they are basically useless. I’m still using the disposable surgical ones. I think masks are here to stay for quite some time.
You’re shaming me by just reading about your walks. I’ve barely left the house in two weeks.

I had heard nothing about cloth masks being ineffective. They certainly seem to make a difference to the populations here that use them. Big demonstrations with everyone masked: no noticeable bump in infections. Trump rallies with no masks — well one was considered responsible for up to 700 deaths if you traced contacts. Not infections, deaths.

Yeah, it’s been all over the media lately. I mean, I suppose a cloth mask is better than nothing, but they don’t usually have the proper three layers with filter material in the middle. And people often don’t wash them (60ºC) before wearing them again.
There was a big demonstration here the other day by the Hostelería association (bars and restaurants) and I really wanted to go and show support. But even though I knew everyone would be wearing masks I deemed it too risky.

Okay totally off topic: HOW DO YOU PUT PHOTOS IN THE NEW WRETCHED WORDPRESS EDITOR
I HAVE NOT POSTED IN WEEKS BECAUSE I CANNOT INSERT A PHOTO

Okay… first of all CALM DOWN. It took awhile for me to work this out, but there is a bit of a work around from the dreaded BLOCK shit thing. First click on +WRITE (upper right hand corner of the screen). And when the post screen pops up click on the + sign.
There you will see options to add a block, and amongst them is CLASSIC. Click on that, then click again on the empty row that appears saying Classic and VOILÀ you get your editing options. The ADD MEDIA one looks like a camera/musical note and it’s not as straight forward as the old one, but at least it’s doable. I just add one photo at a time so as not to get all their crap block options poppin up.
Then just type away and when you’re ready click on POST on the right, and you’ll get options for categories, etc. Then click on PUBLISH and you can add tags and choose if you want to post now or later. And then you post that thang!
With my WordPress.org self-hosted sites I have added a Classic plug-in which allows me to use the old – AND WAY BETTER – format. For awhile I thought about writing everything there and just copy and pasting it here, then I worked out this work around. Hope this helps!
