We have an Alerta Naranja for extreme temperatures this weekend, though it actually started hitting 40º a couple of days ago. I am trying to wait until 2 pm (when cheaper electricity rates kick in) to turn on the AC but once it gets to 30º INSIDE it’s hard not to succumb. Howzit where you are?
it’s heeerre!

Had the AC on for a few weeks. Even when it’s not HOT hot, the DC humidity is suffocating. Fortunately our new system has an interim setting that just dehumidifies the indoors versus actually kicking in the cooling full on, which saves money. You go outside and in five minutes the sweat is trickling down your buttcrack.

It’s so weird because growing up in Canada you would never think of turning the heat OFF in winter because then your pipes would burst and you’d probably die. But with HEAT it’s different. Or perceived as different. But not for me. I’ve decided that brutally hot weather means I have to just put the fucking AC on and yeah I know I’ll have to pay for it, but I also don’t want to suffer at home. I don’t have it on at night, it’s mostly a 2pm to bedtime thing. Because otherwise it’s just too fucking hot. And hey, that’s in part why I have a flat mate now, to share expenses, so we can live more comfortably.

Going out for a cold beer just after 12.00 helps, then maybe a bit of shopping, back home after 2 pm for the cheap(er) rates.
