Yep, another one. Still in Beta so there’s a waiting list. I just got on it today and am feeling my way around. It seems much more user-friendly than the other “Twitter alternatives” I’ve tried and the very interesting thing is that you can pay (or earn money) for “premium” content. For example, on Twitter a lot of newspapers are behind a paywall and, while I agree with paying for good journalism, I don’t want to pay for a dozen or more subscriptions when I may only read a couple of articles a month from a particular news service. This way I can just pay per article if I’m interested in reading it. Likewise, people can post there like they would on any social media site, or they can charge to read certain posts. Anyhow, it’s early days so we’ll see how it goes.
I’m just overwhelmed by all these “Twitter alternatives” and can’t be arsed to go through a half dozen sign up processes while I wait to see whether Twitter will implode or where the people I want most to follow end up. I do like this per-article feature though. Honestly the NYT is the worst; they made it difficult for me to unsubscribe when I was tightening my finances after I shuttered for the pandemic, but they pelt me with daily headline roundups that I can’t click through because it’s pay to play. At least they used to offer four free articles a month, which is about my speed for the average news source.
Tangentially, on the matter of accessing content, has anyone else been encountering the need to log in each and every fucking time they comment on a WordPress blog? The site constantly tells me that I am “logged in elsewhere” on WordPress and that I have to log in separately to leave a comment. I click Remember Me every time and it never does.

I’m also overwhelmed but reckon it’s better to be in at the beginning of these things. For sure I won’t end up using most of them but this way I can choose my alternatives.
WordPress has been driving me crazy that way for the past couple of months, having to log in every time to post or comment. Then overnight (a couple of nights ago) it went back to how it used to be. Go figure.
