The 10th anniversary of Vinos de España Una Pasión took place back where it all began, in Jerez de la Frontera. Each year a different city is chosen for this event and I went to the only one (so far) held in Sevilla back in 2016. But how could I miss this special anniversary, especially being held in Jerez? And especially after I saw the lineup of bodegas! Holy moly. Top wineries from all over Spain in one place for one day only.
And this is the man who makes it all happen… Juan Manuel Hidalgo, who I had the good fortune of meeting many years ago at Eslava. We were just hanging out at the bar and then Eslava owner Sixto introduced us because he knew I loved sherry wines. Anyhow, we’ve known each other since then and it’s always a pleasure to meet up.

The chosen venue chosen is always somewhere spectacular and this time it was in the beautiful Palacio de la Atalaya. What a wonderful time. I got to see bodega owners I’d visited years ago in Galicia, catch up with old friends and meet some new ones.

There were two sessions: morning (11am – 3 pm) and afternoon (5 – 8pm). I prefer going to the early ones as they tend to be less crowded. In this case we didn’t even arrive until 12.30, but a 2.5 hour wine tasting is plenty of time. Above are a few pics I took but I was having such a great time talking to everyone that a couple of special friends are missing. Oh well. They know who they are. Cheers!
