How many famous first lines can you identify?
Can you think of any others?

I just had to share this after seeing it over on loricat’s booknook.
Especially as Moby Dick is one of those very few books that I’ve started on several occasions but have never been able to finish (well, until now 😉 ), much to my friend Blues’s dismay. Luckily Blues still talks to me after the copy he sent me as a gift remains only partially read.
Hope you enjoy this wonderful illustrated haiku Moby Dick as much as I did.

Every book dusted, every shelf cleaned. And this morning I painted the bit where the Jaguar’s monitor and the printer sit. And Nog even wiped off and organised all my old cassettes and put them back in their little cassette-holder thingy (behind the monitor). And even my desk is relatively tidy for a change. Anyhow, I thought I’d take a photo of this moment for posterity as I’m sure by the end of the week (if not by the end of the day) things will be all cluttered again.
And check out Sunny. That’s his little stool where he demands to sit next to the Alpha Cat while she wastes her life spends her time on sexy beast. He actually prefers to sit on my lap but then I can’t reach the keyboard. So our compromise is the stool, as long as I talk to him a lot and give him a cuddle about every thirty seconds.

From the BBC: Your Potter stories in 100 words
Ahead of the publication of the seventh and final Harry Potter book, we have been asking avid Harry Potter fans to tell the entire story of the six books so far in 100 words or fewer.
More than a thousand people wrote in, and the standard of entries was so high that the muggles on the Entertainment team had to choose six entries, instead of the original five.
I actually thought some of the ones that were posted in the original ‘challenge’ article (which I now can’t find) were better than the six entries chosen here.
Fancy having a go? ![]()

I’ve got the seventh book on pre-order from Amazon and I’m quite looking forward to that. But so far the fifth film isn’t being shown here in original version, though I’m hoping it may be soon as all the previous ones have been. The most popular cinema in Sevilla actually has the film showing in six of its twenty ‘salas’!
In the meantime, enjoy this splendid Comic Relief version of the second film . . .
