So there I was lying in bed during the wee hours and listening to the radio when an obvious cover version of Come Together came on. At first I thought “who the hell would have the nerve to do this!” and then I thought “hey, this actually sounds pretty good” and then “hey, I recognise that voice!” I had no idea this version existed. I think it’s fabby.

This morning I was skimming through tweets and saw that Beth (@MrsMagoo) had just re-watched Jesus Christ Superstar and had also done the math. Thirty-eight years! Sheesh that made me feel old. And I was reminded of my favourite song from that musical, so here it is.

Because this is the celebration of Woodie Guthrie’s 100th birthday I thought I would put up something by that American folk legend, except all I could find on YouTube were various versions of This Land Is Your Land. Which may be a great folk song, but frankly it’s not one of my favourites. So instead here is another travelling song written and performed by Woodie’s son Arlo. I remember listening to this as a restless teenager and longing to get on a train to New Orleans or anywhere…
