Awhile ago my friend Lisa Sadleir, who runs several websites including Family in Spain, posted a “Today’s Blue” photo on Twitter, taken at her home in Mijas on the Costa del Sol.
Since then I’ve been responding with my own “Today’s Blue” Twitter pics and this was today’s. This photo was not retouched in any way or *shudder* Instagrammed. It was just a quick shot using my iPhone. But man, just look at that BLUE.
Pretty damn fine for midday in February, doncha think?
Twenty years ago I used to call this sky “as blue as Lua’s eyes” referring to the crankiest of all cats who ever existed (but who still managed to wangle her way into my heart). Actually, I still call this sky after Lua. She had the most amazing eyes ever.
Some habits never die.

This week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge is “high”…
Almost two years ago I went on a very special Cathedral Rooftop Tour, which in retrospect was not the smartest thing for an agoraphobic chica like me to do, but it was too intriguing an opportunity to pass up. I was mostly okay though at one point I resorted to filming a short video of the clanging bells instead of running away in terror. But it turned out that the worst part was when we got back inside and I suddenly found myself behind a balustrade that runs just below the HIGH vaulted ceilings.
Even looking at these photos makes me break out in a sweat and I remember thinking then that I was going to totally break down and that somehow they would have to cart my quivering jibbering self back down the long stone spiral staircase. To give you an idea of how HIGH up I was, you can just about make out the two angels with trumpets in this photo on the left. I still can’t believe I was actually standing behind one of them. Must stop looking at these photos now…

In Málaga sometimes the cargo ships are queued up one after the other along the horizon for miles and take days to get into port. I kind of like how this one is framed in the little BBQ hut at my favourite beachfront seafood restaurant in Pedregalejos.

This week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge is “chocolate”…
Okay, I’m cheating a bit this week. I looked all through my various chocolate photos but kept coming back to this one, which isn’t mine. It belongs to my friend Juan, owner of the fabulous Vineria San Telmo. This chocolate cake was made by his wife Reyes, who is the pastry chef at the Vineria. Below is a collage of various chocolate desserts from tapas bars in Sevilla (including the Vineria). It’s rare for me to get a dessert shot unless someone I’m with orders one, as I don’t like sweet stuff. And possibly even rarer is the fact that I don’t actually like chocolate. But I still think that Juan’s photo is amazing…
