Today’s Photohunt theme is “broken”.

Here you can see Azar’s broken front left paw, which is actually his lucky paw and is also why he is called “azar” (which means chance or happenstance in Spanish). When he was a tiny street kitten someone killed off all his five siblings but only managed to batter and bash his front leg, leaving it permanently bent and broken. At first I thought he was going to die of his injuries, but when he didn’t I realised I couldn’t leave him out in the street like that as he couldn’t fend for himself. And that’s how he came to live with me, which was pretty lucky. If not for the broken paw I don’t think I would have taken in a third cat at that time.

Azar will be 17 in April and is the love of my life.
