So you FINALLY get to take a week off for yourself and then end up HAVING to attend a chocolate tasting by one of the finest chocolate producers in the world (Neuhaus), paired with sherries, whisky and brandy from an equally revered house in Jerez (Gonzalez Byass). Believe it or not I have TAKEN A WHOLE WEEK OFF. And I am basically just hanging out like this guy and his owl, except I’m actually catching up on a massive backlog of blog posts and other work. At home. In my PJs. When I feel like it. And I can’t tell you how fabulous that feels. I don’t have to actually BE anywhere at any given time, unless I choose to. One day can be a total slob day in front of the computer, the next can be running around town doing errands or attending lovely events. The point being… it’s totally up to me! This is totally the up-side of working freelance. Plenty on the down-side too, but for now I’m just enjoying the freedom. How are you guys doing?

Christmas lights were turned on this past Thursday. These are some I saw on my way to pick up Tapas Tour clients. I’d actually gone out earlier to get some pics but – being a public holiday – it was total madness and I got away from LA BULLA as soon as I could. I’ll try again on Tuesday…

This is a completely unfiltered photo of what December is looking like here. After a couple of rainy weeks these brilliant blue skies are very welcome, along with mild temps and being able to sit outside and enjoy a drink along with some people watching. In other weather-related news, since yesterday it’s been “snowing” here at Casa Az (though my cheeky friend @FredShively got in touch to tell me that my blog had dandruff!). But I admit that it does look a bit odd to be snowing on palm trees.

When I first moved to Sevilla there was no sign of anything Halloween, other than a few candies and masks available in the Marks & Spencer food section. And of course that seemed normal, except that Halloween was never a UK thing either, and I supposed M&S was carrying this stuff for North American expats. Fast forward twenty years and suddenly everybody is dressing up, there are cobwebs and spiders and witches and zombies all over the place. WTF? It feels weird. Mostly because it’s just a copy of what people here have seen in US films and TV series. Second hand customs created by marketing moguls.
