As you can see, Morcilla is settling back in quite nicely after her hols…

Morcilla is such a Spanish gatita. She prefers eating “in company” and shows no interest in her food unless I put it up on the table and chat to her while she chows down. She also quite likes my red abanico. If you listen closely you can hear Paco de Lucía playing in the background…

I am so pleased with and proud of my little travelling companion. Other than complaining a bit when being jostled around in her little carrier bag Morcilla is really taking to being on holiday. I guess because she is so young she doesn’t flip out when introduced to a new dwelling. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! She is suddenly all curious and wants to explore and check out every nook and cranny. She is also quite happy to meet new people. Here she is with my friend Victor (@welovemalaga) who helped me move over to my second holiday apartment this morning.
And so this apartment is a whole new Málaga experience for me. Other than one quick overnight stop in March, I’ve always stayed in the Malagueta, right on the beach. As of today I am in the centre of the old town, just a ten-minute walk to the Malagueta, but I think it will be a nice change having pretty much everything to hand. Don’t get me wrong, I love the beach location. But I’m looking forward to a week living in the centre of Málaga.
I’m also loving this apartment. It’s on a tiny pedestrian street and is all white minimalist, clean lines, with a bright lovely kitchen … and I even have a little terrace off my loft bedroom to enjoy coffee in the morning with my iPad. Take a look. Either on Fede’s webite (he’s the owner) or on his AirBnB page. I met Fede via Twitter – it turns out his brother owns one of my favourite tapas bars in Málaga, Taberna Uvedoble. And he was okay about having Morcilla here, which clinched the deal (hard to find holiday apts that allow pets). Anyhow, both Morcilla and I are all settled in and may not move out… love everything about this place. Though I’m a bit worried that Morcilla might slip and fall through the railing in the bedroom that overlooks the livingroom. But so far she seems to have figured out that she has to be careful. It’s just that sometimes, especially first thing in the morning, she goes totally mental, tearing around the place with reckless abandon. Well, fingers crossed on that one. It’ll be good practice for my stairs back home, which she still hadn’t quite discovered before we left on holiday.
I find myself already wishing I could spend a third week in Málaga. Well, you never know…

Raincoaster thinks that Morcilla looks insane, and I do get the “crazy eyes” thing, which is accentuated by that random orange flame above her right eye and the silly “milk moustache”. Morcilla was also the runt of the litter and remains quite small for her age. But what she has in spades is charm and personality. I mean, hey, I was all set to take the adorable chubby orange boy until I brought all the kittens home for a few days. And it ended up being this one who stole my heart, flirting with me from day one. Almost like she knew this was her one chance to win the kitteh jackpot in terms of great places to live. Her other three siblings didn’t fare so well and were eventually left at 10 weeks old to fend for themselves at some place in the country belonging to of a friend of Pablo’s. Fuck.
Anyhow, this little flirty girl may look nuts – and I’m sure she is as nuts as all kittens tend to be – but she has amazing interpersonal skills. She really wants to communicate which ends up being both lovely and hilarious. She also reminds me so much of Azar and I keep thinking “this one is really mine!” but I rather suspect it’s the other way round.
