Isn’t it great when they just happen?
And it wasn’t any big thing in particular that made today feel so perfect. Just how it all ended up fitting together.
Got up at the usual time, Nog made coffee and fed the cats and then I made brekky before he went off to teach his one class of the day (I’d have normally had a class too but my student is out of town). On Fridays we usually only have morning classes.
While Nog was away I pottered around here and made more progress on organizing the bookshelves! Also managed to put away the dreaded mountain of laundry (eep!).
When Nog got back we decided to go out to the viveros to get some new plants for our balconies and also for the bathroom, but when we got there (hefty 45 minute walk) it turned out there was nothing there we wanted. But then I remembered this little tapa bar my friend Agustรญn has been telling me about for ages that isn’t far away from the viveros, so we decided to check it out (as it was about 2pm and we were HUNGRY).
And wow! Fabulous food. Crap ‘ambientation’ but who cares? The staff were very friendly and the food was totally
. We’ll definitely be going back.
Since we had our little shopping cart with us (to carry plants and soil home) we decided it would be a good time to get our shopping done for the anniversary – mostly having to do with stocking up on
and a few other treats. So we did that and then came home, feeling quite good for all the walking we’d done.
Then I decided to dye my hair (deep chestnut) and we did a few chores.
I had a doctor’s appointment at 7.30pm so around 6 we went out again to run some errands, pick up my passport photos ๐ and then spent some time at a bookshop.
After the doc’s we came home and made a nice meal and … oh, I dunno. It was like everything we did today just happily slid into the next thing and all of it was quite pleasant. Just a day totally working out. And also totally enjoying each other’s company, having lots of laughs and chats. We had so much fun just doing ordinary stuff and it was lovely.
Oh, and the weater was also perfect. Not too hot, bright and sunny and very comfortable for walking.
Off to shower now … ๐
It is lovely when the day is perfect. My wish is for every day to be that way, but Well we wouldn’t treasure them so much if they were all perfect, would we?
have a great weekend

az, I’m so pleased for you both! *hugs*
I know what you mean about a perfect day. Sometimes, it seems to me that there are these short but *totally* lucid moments in our lives, where we sense a ‘rightness’ to that moment — for me, sometimes it seems to be triggered from a bird song heard in the trees, or the way the light reflects off the buildings — sort of a lambent glow, or even a certain temperature, as though the feel of the air on my skin triggers it, and I can sense the atmosphere touching me. For those moments of *awareness*, life is perfect, and I’m happy.

I think I know what you mean about those lucid moments, SC. Like the ‘connection’ between you and everything else kinda feels complete somehow – actually hard to describe.
Yesterday was a bit like dipping into this *awareness* throughout the day, just lightly ‘touching’ it rather than feeling overwhelmed by it.
I guess if every day was perfect then they would become ‘ordinary’, hmh. Not very likely to happen, the world and humans being what they are. Though they could probably happen a lot more than they do – if we let them.

It is nice to have one of those “perfect” days every so often. I can’t say I ever feel “connected” or “in tune” with everything else, but some days things just seems to work out perfectly and it really is a nice feeling.
And I especially love those days where even the simple errands and tasks are accompanied by laughs, chats, and even occasional silences together. I love that feeling of all-encompassing “togetherness”.

Boy, that day turned out even more perfect than I’d thought! At first I didn’t mind that the viveros didn’t have anything to replace all our gitanillas that had died as we ended up trying out that fab tapa bar for lunch (and we’re not usually in that area).
But then this morning my landlord told me I have to take all the plants off my balconies because – get this – “all that watering is going to make the balcony rails rust through, this is an old building you know…blah, blah, blah” ๐ Yeah right. The bit of water that dribbles out from each pot when we water them dries out again in about two minutes, but there’s just no argueing with Pepe once he gets a stupid idea in his head.
So it turned out we were actually quite lucky that we didn’t buy six more plants on Friday.
As for the six lovely ferns growing on the other three balconies, we’re going to put them along the top of our bookshelves in the livingroom. They’ll actually look quite nice there but will require a stepladder to water them …
