That’s pretty neat! I know some people who should audition…

Funny. More funny if it wasn’t so true. And I think it is very interesting that the complaints in Helsinki are pretty accurate for just about anywhere.

I liked the bit about ringtones, and the moan about cords on vacuum cleaners.

I wonder if there was a line about people who stop dead at the top of escalators.

If there was I missed it. But it’s a familiar complaint here at casa az (people stopping at the tops of escalators, that is, not me missing things. Though actually…)

Thanks for sharing that. Wonderful idea, very well executed (particularly the ringtones bit, as Ivan said), and it must have felt very good singing it! Getting it all off your chest in such a fun way. Wonderful. Must read the article now.

The ringtones bit is excellent, plus the complaint about the ancestors choosing Finland as a place to settle. With the weather as god-awful as we are experiencing at the moment, many Irish people are saying exactly the same thing at the moment..

I agree, David. Much better than the Birmingham version.

I mean, the Helsinki group was not only much classier but they also had properly miserable faces.

    I’ve been to that mall!

Just felt I had to share.

EMR, did the experience inspire you to complain?

The people in DC are unbeleivably strict about escalators – and it is freakin awesome! There are even ads on the subway warning people not to stop at the top of the escalator! I love it.

What’s really stupid is that, in one major department store here, they have placed several HUGE plasma tv’s right at the top of the UP escalator on one floor … so of course people are going to stop there and look at them. 😕

Not in itself, but I’m from California – I don’t need to visit Helsinki to go to a mall. And that’s all I remember of Helsinki. My orchestra was on tour, I was there for three days, and we spent the entire time in the mall. A bit disappointing.

So the line should be, ‘They’ve built another mall right in the middle of Helsinki and it’s a bit disappointing…’

Helsinki is a nice city, at least a sunny weekend in July and there are more than two malls 🙂

    This was awesome!
