Need a catchy name for new translation/teaching website.
As some of you may know, Nog and I just finished a rather lucrative translation & correction job for a medical journal and so we thought it would be a good idea to incorporate this into our present teaching work.
The idea is to set up a website that combines what we offer in terms of English classes (for all levels), including special full and half-day intensive weekend courses, with this latest translation/editing/correction service.
But neither of us can think of a great name for this. Any ideas?

And no, that isn’t the definite name, just something to put up for now.
I’m thinking that I might just blog this rather than get a hosted website since it’s mostly a few information pages and links. Then I can use it as kind of an ‘extended biz card’ or ‘online brochure’.

Maybe ‘Found in Translation’? As opposed to Lost in… that’s all I can come up with except ideas around roses because of Shakespeare and the whole “A rose by any other name” thing.

I was trying to thing of a variation of Lost in Translation as well – no luck. And then I wondered if that might focus too much on just the one service. Not sure…
I nixed The Ghost Writers for the same reason.
Something to do with language in general might be better. I think a play on words understandable in both English and Spanish would be quite good.

Not bad … perhaps The Alpha Cats? I dunno.
Meanwhile, after using Spanglés as a temporary name I’m actually becoming rather fond of it.
Spanglish has been suggested by a few people, but this might have some negative connotations attached to it, as in that the English people end up with won’t be ‘proper’ English.
On the trial blog I linked to earlier I found a pic of letters done in spangles.
What do you think?
Also, if I blog this rather than starting a hosted website, would I be contravening any WordPress rules about ‘advertising’? After all, it’s mostly an information place with links.

I had thought of something around Spanglish or Engpanol, but wasn’t sure for the same reasons you said.
Re a previous post of your about Wordsmith – sounds like a good name, but does it translate in any way that’s useful?

I’m not sure if Anu has the Wordsmith name copyrighted or not – it’s quite a good name.
But yeah, I’d like it to be something that Spanish people can relate to. After all, it won’t be English people who will be requiring our services.

A friend of mine has told me that the name itself doesn’t end up being all that important once you have made that name mean something.
He cited Amazon (like, what’s that got to do with books, etc?). And anyhow, this isn’t for a proper business website, just a blog information page. So I guess Spanglés it is!
