This interactive is loosely based on the PVT test which would be carried out under laboratory conditions for ten minutes, testing your response under different sleep conditions.
On average, 220 milliseconds would be a ‘good’ reaction time; people who are very tired take around 300 milliseconds
Didn’t realise I was so tired … off to bed now.
252 millisec – not bad for 5 hrs of sleep a night

The test shows me that I’m tired. But I guess I didn’t need the test to know that. I’m off to bed!

253 millisecs. but I also had 2 false starts π

278 – but I managed to miss one completely

255 – after a couple more coffees – I should hope that I am more awake now.

259 – right out of bed, pre-caffeine. i’ll try again after work and see if it improves. gotta say, there’s an extra variable — the switching speed/’throw’ of individual mouse buttons will affect the results (but that’s just my inner geek talking).

Nurse: I’m one of those rare male cases where two missed signals and a fast speed actually worked to my benefit π

Very well done on 5 hours a night, FFE. I don’t usually get much more myself.
Hope you had a good sleep, alejna.
And we have nursemyra jumping the gun … I kinda picture you as the greyhound type (sleek and energetic), so that’s not surprising.
Coffee definitely helps, Johnny.
I think you’re right about the ‘mouse action’, daisy, as I got a sleepier score using the mousepad on the laptop. The one I posted was from using my normal mouse.
Wow, you got that score even with two missed signals, FFE? Impressive!

Not even going to say what my score was, but I’m obviously totally exhausted.
Though that was with a laptop mousepad.

276 with one false start and one missed. zzzzzzzz….

ok… i did it again under the following conditions:
– 11:30pm
– after a full day of work, then dress rehearsal
– after a glass of kentucky bourbon on the rocks
this time? 247 (my time pre-caffeine this morning was 259)
This tells me that i should tackle the most important things in my life at night, when tired, and while drinking…

geez, ~320 ms here. No false starts though. it appears as there’s no penalty for false starts, so why not just sit there and mash?

Usually works for me, daisy. π
I got 269 just now, slightly lower than before.
Feeling sleepy, Arnie?

Not really, feeling annoyed at the test. Let’s see…there we go
211 average response time, 1 false start. Just have to know how to “take” the test.

How about not too seriously… π

First time it told me I was exhausted, second time it told me I was alert (think I just adjusted to test). Really, isn’t this more about reaction time? How “quick-twitch” one’s nerves are?

Maybe, Ben … I’ll try it again tomorrow morning after I’ve finished my usual two super-mega-hyper-drive mugs of coffee and before I take the tranquiliser π .
