I’m coming to the end of my chemo-free week off the meds. My plan had been to do something special every day and make the most of it. And now here it is Saturday and it’s hard to remember anything I’ve done that was special in itself. But today while I was walking around with Peter drinking an icy cold granizado de limón I realised that just being able to do that was the special thing, just like how last night we went out for a scoop of Häagan Dazs ice cream (at the new HD shop that has recently opened just five minutes from my house). When I think about how next week it’ll be back to drinking 40º room temperature water I am sooooo enjoying every icy cold minute I can.
And so tonight I’m making frozen cosmopolitans . . . 🙂
What’s a granizado de limon? I’m fairly certain I want one. Sounds cool and delicious. It’s supposed to hit 93 here today, not too terrible. The air’s breathable so far.
We’ve been doing Pina Coladas, Mud Slides, and Margaritas lately. For pure icy yummy sweet smoothness the Pina Colada wins (if you like coconut). It was one of the Friday’s mixes. Booze already in it. No wonder I’m getting fat.
Lucky you having the HD shop so close. Is that walking or driving 5 minutes?

A granizado de limón looks like this (though the ones we had today were served in plastic take-away glasses).
I also like frozen margaritas, but as I’ve still got a bottle of Absolut leftover from my trip to Gibraltar last December, I thought I’d try something frozen with that. My alcohol tolerance is way down since I started the chemo, but I can still enjoy a couple of drinks. *hic*
The HD shop is five minutes walking distance from casa az. By car it would be twenty …

I’ve been trying to watch my caloric intake lately, so today all I got to do was one rum drink (orange peach mango as a mixer), and a small glass of red wine with the carbonara Jim made for dinner.

It has been as cold as a granizado de limón here… Hardly early August weather.
Tomorrow, rain or shine (we have had a lot of the former this summer) we are headed to the Carp Garlic Festival (Carp being a town,,, this is not a festival for garlic carp!).
I am looking forward to a serving of Chocolate Garlic Fudge…. and a lot more ~ YUM! Photos and video will be taken.
Also, a friend gave Cat and myself his free tickets to the entire Ottawa Folk Festival! Oh JOY! OH BLISS! Photos and video will be taken!

PS Az… there is a Wordscraper game which we have to finish. I didn’t want to “nudge” you in case you were under the weather.

Moderation can be a drag sometimes, hmh.
Glad you clarified that, Anneke, because the first thing I thought of was garlic carp. Looking forward to the photos. Have you ever seen this place?

Wordscraper? I haven’t heard of that one – will have a look. Is it on Facebook?

Luckily, I don’t really like alcohol, it gives me stomach ache. I say luckily, cos otherwise I’d be the size of a house and even more skint than I am already!

Sounds lovely, az! I think we call those Granitas here, same thing though. I like the coffee ones! I think it’s good to take one day at a time, like you’re doing. I hate it when they run all together, so you can’t even remember what you did the day before…
That cosmo looks good, though…does it come in a virgin version? 😉

In fact, I was making virgin versions too – basically just cranberry juice and crushed ice. Very refreshing.
At the moment it’s 11pm and 30º and I’m drinking room temperature bottled water … bleh.
