Thanks to this little gadget (and the lovely & amazingly wonderful Pipocas) my looming hospital experience is now looking to be much less tedious than the last one. I was planning on taking Nog’s laptop with me to watch DVDs anyhow (his is smaller and more portable than mine) but now I’ll also be able to go online! Isn’t that fabulous? So I’ll be able to blog and chat and play scrabble whilst trying to ignore my roommate’s blaring television programmes. Of course this will only happen once I am able to sit up and move around … I’m hoping by day 3 after the op.
Muchísimas gracias, Pipocas!

[throws tomato at az, just for the Hell of it!]
Whoo hoo – gotcha!

Been looking at getting one of those gizmos myself. Vodaphone wants 42 euro a month though. Another provider wants 25, but a two-year locked-in contract. Still, for instant access anywhere you could use a cellphone, it’s a great service.

Missed me Archie! 😛
I think it’s a wonderful thing, ian. And mine is just on loan from Pipocas. She has it for work, specifically for when she or a colleague has to go out of town on business. At the moment it looks like nobody will be going away next week, so I’m all set. 🙂

Ain’t technology great?
When I was a kid, you had to go down the hall to the TV room if you were to do anything but stare at the cracks in the ceiling. Even so, the few times I was in then, I wasn’t allowed out of bed to go to the TV room, so I got very good at ceiling crack and the inside of my own eyelids.
Now, you can do just about to anything from anywhere!

Actually, I just gave it to you to distract you long enough to come over and steal your other 6 seasons of West Wing. I know how you are with shiny new gizmos… and I needed something to grab your attention while I sneak off with 36 pounds of DVD’s.

I’ll have to re-think my throwing strategy – – –
SIX seasons of West Wing – A quick flight to Seville and there will be nothing for Pipocas to sneak off with 🙂

I loved West Wing. Wonder what they would make of this campaign? Egads, it has all the elements of farce if it wasn’t so darned scary.

Palin looks like an actress I am trying to think of the name of. She could play her.
Who would play everyone else?

Tina Fay, from Saturday Night live was who I was thinking of. She could play Palin. She has probably played the part on SNL, though. I haven’t watched in years, so I don’t know.

So now there will be no escape from all this even when in you’re hospital?
I like technology as much as the next guy but really, there are limits…

I was so hoping to have a few days when you and Compu-Diva couldn’t cream me at Scrabble. All gone, no hope now. See you on the Scrabble boards.

Archie, I actually have all seven seasons (I also use them for teaching high level students). And clearly you don’t know Pipocas – I’m sure by now she’s having the airport watched.
“but really, there are limits…”
Nobody expects the Spanish Imposition! 😛
And as for “when in you’re hospital”. What the…???
Don’t worry, Silverstar, you’ll get at least three or four days off to study your dictionary.

The thing is, you gave me Season 1 which ends on a cliffhanger, and you KNOW how I am.
Case in point: remember when the bird pooped on you last week? And I had to know where it happened and what kind of tree the bird was perched in? (An orange tree, you said, and it was most likely a sparrow) Now imagine what kind of havoc a cliffhanger like that can wreak on my brain. Not pretty.

That’s just an unhealthy obsession with bird-poop you have going on there, I reckon. 😉

Wow, that little modem is soooo small and sleek, unlike the clunky cigarette pack sized ones here. Price seems about the same, though…
I loved West Wing, until the last season and a half. And there’s no farce that could compare with this political season. Firstly, because farces are supposed to be *funny*.
