The plan had been to go to Córdoba on Friday…
But then the weather forecast started looking very iffy for the weekend. And so yesterday morning around 9am I was having coffee in bed and playing online scrabble. Looking out the bedroom window I saw a gorgeous sunshiny morning out there, so I half-jokingly sent an email to Pipocas saying it was a shame we couldn’t go to Córdoba now as the weather looked perfect and Nog didn’t have any classes until the evening. She called back and asked – “are you serious?” – then called back five minutes later to say WE WERE GO! Forty minutes later we were all showered, dressed and at our meeting point.

It was a wonderful day.
You can see all the photos (partially edited) below.
Córdoba photos
Gorgeous pictures. You can really see the Moorish influence in the architecture. Glad you had a good time.

It’s a good thing we went yesterday because today is rainy and grey. We might go to Cádiz tomorrow if the weather looks good, but this time by train and without Pipocas.
The temperature has sure dropped in the past couple of days. Had to put the duvet on the bed a couple of nights ago. But I’m still wearing sandals!

Ah phooey, the firewall at work wont let me see the pictures. Never mind, I shall look forward to that pleasure later on.
Scrabble in bed – what bliss!

Yes, scrabble and hot coffee in bed, Beatrice. It’s pretty damn fabulous.

Sheer blatant envy!!!! That you can live amongst such wonderful architecture while I have red sand between my toes and sheds to live in. It’s NOT fair!

Nice photos, Anneke. But I’m glad it’s all 3,000 miles away.
Still trying to decide whether to go to Cádiz today, Archie. There’s a chance of rain but it’s still tempting. Haven’t been there since Nog’s birthday trip three years ago. Got about half an hour to decide…

We had the first snow yesterday. It’s about -4C outdoors and long underwear and gloves are needed.
Nice piccies! I must get some time off next year and come visit before it gets too hot.

such a wealth of architectural gorgeousness 🙂 And the colours are so warm and welcoming.
I’m so impressed with the spontaneity of your trip, too – getting up and ready in 40 mins indeed! It would take me that long to locate the map…

Map??? Nah, we just turned right and then right again (from Pipocas’s office) and drove a straight 137 kms to Córdoba.
But I did impress myself by going from cosily sitting in bed with laptop to being showered/dressed/out the door in about half an hour. Especially because the hair-taming bit doesn’t always work out first time round.
I did think of you when we were in the Mesquita and thought you would really love being there.
