This photo is for Anneke. Yes, the bear hugs are wonderful. 🙂
And that was my last one (until next time) taken at 8.45 this morning when the airport bus pulled up. Luckily Nog was there to hug me after it drove away because I suddenly couldn’t stop crying. I’m really really bad at goodbyes. But we made lots of very happy memories this past week. And tomorrow Craig will be meeting up with Sara & Steve in London for a few beers. They’ve never met before but I’m sure they’ll have plenty of Sevilla stories to swap and, I don’t know, it gives me a nice feeling to think that some of my favourite people will be out enjoying each other’s company tomorrow.
So, it’s back to REALITY. Got to clean up the joint and go out for my daily walk. It just feels a bit sad and empty knowing that I won’t be seeing the zoomster later on today. *sigh* 😦
Here are some ‘last lunch’ memories from Yebra below . . .
(it’s gonna be green tea & broccoli from now on)
langostines wrapped in potato threads
bacon-wrapped prawns
monkfish with clams & prawns
Argentinian beef in rioja sauce
hake with baby eels & prawns (but a smaller version)

Bye, Craig. Come back and see us again sometime!

Good-byes are rough, and I can imagine they are harder when you are living in limbo. It sounds like it was a fabulous visit, though.
And that lunch looks amazing!
(What’s this about green tea and broccoli? Are we talking daily? For breakfast?)

It was a great week, and though we’re missing him already I’m sure we’ll see him again before too long. Is it too soon to start planning where we’re going to take him next time?

Not too soon at all! I was thinking that he has to go back to Las Golondrinas and El Rinconcillo (swiped those pics from zoomer’s still unedited 2006 Sevilla photos).
And he still hasn’t climbed the Giralda tower.
Re: green tea & broccoli. I’ve got as far as buying them, alejna. I’m reckoning on having some tomorrow, but today it was much-needed comfort food for lunch by way of a homemade pizza.
Mind you, I also have the PET scan tomorrow, so who knows what’ll happen after that food-wise.

Shellfish allergy – or being selfish 😉

You haven’t ‘done’ Sevilla until you’ve climbed that tower, dagnabit. I hope we’ll find him – he did pick just about the single biggest pub in London to meet in. But he is a pretty big lad so i think we’ll be ok.
Here’s a little something to cheer you up;

Oh – and trust me, that’s an allergy.
If you want to see me do a passable imitation of Mr Creosote feed me shellfish. Or any sort of seafood, actually.

“I want to try the clams, dammit!!”
Well, as I recall, the last time we were all at Yebra a certain someone was too hungover to eat much of anything, otherwise she could have shared a plate of clams with the rest of us (well, except for Blues). 😉
Mr Creosote before or after the wafer thin mint? Oh, and that’s a damn fine video, Blues – thanks!
And t’was Sara who chose the pub … gosh, I hope you guys find him! I really wish I could be there.
Pipocas was feeling antsy at work this afternoon so she came over and dragged me out to go clothes shopping with her. It was just the distraction I needed. And I got to play with an iPhone at Telefónica for awhile, which was also fun. 🙂

Fark! I can’t watch the video on this hotel computer.
I am envious of the bear hugs, and even more envious of the meals, especially after last night’s library paste dinner.

Bear hugs are excellent, and not only for bears 🙂

In my hotel, reading all of this, I think I miss the quiet in Az and Nog’s living room more than the tapas and beer and hugs. Each of us working at something or thinking about the day and the next day or something else entirely. I think the quiet spoke as loudy as the bad jokes, the spoken fears or fear itself.
I feel very strongly that Az will come out the other side of this well and tempered by the fire. I think I and all of us might as well.
Take care, everyone.

Oi! Sara did indeed pick the pub. Cheers to her, sice I checked it out and it’s stumbling distance to my hotel and even less to either a shop that sells Canadian wares or the Maple leaf Pub. Not that I want to buy anything I can get cheaper in 2 days but they might want some maple syrup or s Sleeman’s Ale to keep up with a Canuck 😉
btw, I lost their phone numbers but have their pic, LOL

By my reckoning you guys should be a few hours into a very pleasant beer drinking session, zoomer. I really hope you managed to find each other.
It’s true what you said about “the quiet” being the most special part. Just hanging out together and not even feeling the need to talk at times is something to be cherished between friends.
Oh, and I’ve been playing at ‘home movies’ with your prezzie. You can see just before Pipocas dragged me out shopping over here…
morocco, etc.
(and no, my voice doesn’t really sound like that!)

Ha! Who’s the new video girl, then? I KNEW video was for you two. 😀
Tell Nog and Pipocas that they are definitely video stars, 🙂 Remember, I need to see YOU on video within the next while or I’ll repossess the camera. 😛 Ha! (I need sleep…)
