Today’s Photohunter theme is “yellow”.
Although the Feria de Abril in Sevilla is the most famous spring fair in Spain I think the one in Jerez is much nicer. It’s smaller, located in a lovely park and, of course, the horses of Jerez are exceptionally beautiful. Here you can see the typical yellow sand (albero) that is used in parks, fairgrounds and bullrings. I’m not sure if this is true, but I’ve heard that the colours of the Spanish flag are meant to represent the blood and the sand of the bullring.
Very nice yellow sand – I hope it is soft because I get vertigo sitting up so high on a horse. Shetland ponies are more my style – where I can keep my feet on the ground.

That is one gorgeous Andalusian. They’re the most beautiful horses in the world, bar none. They haven’t been spoiled the way Arabians have.

Wow sand! I thought is was bricks painted yellow. Made me think of the Wizard of Oz story and the yellow brick road in it.

I was remiss in not including a photo of my favorite yellow thing on the planet… I have rectified that and “Elvis is now in the building”.

Cool; I’ve seen black sand and white sand but never truly yellow sand.

I’m trying to remember where it is that they have pink sand (anyone?).
There is dark brown sand in MĆ”laga, and on the CĆ”diz coast it’s more of a pale creamy colour.
But yes, that yellow sand is very typical here, though it isn’t “beach sand”. It’s very powdery and makes a real mess of your shoes. It also goes very gloopy after it rains. But it’s quite pretty to look at.
