I find Sundays in Seville kind of sad somehow. All the shops are closed and the streets feel less alive. Though this summer I am grateful not to hear jackhammering and buzzsawing at 7am at least one day out of the week (construction on building next door). But I always feel a bit lost on a Sunday, like I don’t know what to do, where to go.
How about you? What do you like doing on Sundays?

Yesterday I came across this wonderful list of “summer books” by National Geographic, compiled to enhance your summer holiday experience. But I also thought it a good list for armchair travellers such as myself this year. And so while I am in Málaga I shall also “travel” to Morocco and Lisbon.
I still haven’t managed to come across any of the books that were recommended to me over here, so I’ve just placed an Amazon order for In Arabian Nights by Tahir Shah and Baltasar and Blimunda by Jose Saramago. Both are from the list and sound like they should make for perfect summer reading… fingers crossed that they arrive by August 2nd.

It started off as a typical morning yesterday, even when I heard Sunny horking up his breakfast (sometimes he gets piggy and eats too much too fast and it all comes right back up again). But then he came into my bedroom and looked like he was trying to poo on the floor! Without success. A few minutes later he tried this again in the livingroom and managed to squeeze out a couple of nuggets, but clearly something was wrong. When he came back onto the bed he was trying to clean his bottom but, as he can’t reach very well due to his big belly, he started madly licking the back of his tail. I went to get some moist paper towels to clean him up and saw to my horror that he was leaking from his butt and that my sheets were stained with a rather smelly brown liquid. I ask you … could he look any less interested?
A week ago today I was going on about how fabulously the new cat grass was growing and, once I was sure it had taken root properly, lowered it so that the boys could start feasting on what I’d been assured was something they would not only love but was also necessary for their health and digestive well-being. Well, huh. I even tried hand-feeding the grass to them. They took one sniff and were clearly thinking – hey, this ain’t asparagus!
So, I give up. I’ll keep watering the grass for now, but it’s looking like I’ll have to mow it soon. Goldarn ingrates …
