Tuesday was a kind of “transition” day after getting back from holidays, which also included dealing with the plumber till about 4pm. So yesterday it was time to get started organising my life again. As I had a rather long to-do list I decided to skip the gym and get out first thing in order to get as much done before it got too HOT (my gym membership is for mornings only 8.30-2.00). I also had to get back in time for three appointments to show the two available rooms next door, which were starting around 1 o’clock. It seemed like a typical busyish day and I certainly wasn’t expecting everything to turn out as well as it did…

First stop was the bank to try and figure out why I hadn’t been able to access my account online all month. Got that sorted, though seeing the balance made me panic a little. But onwards. Since my dongle experience had ended up being less than I’d been led to believe – patchy connection in MΓ‘laga, none whatsoever in Zahara – I decided to try returning it. Got the expected run around and doubletalk from the salesclerk, but nobody gets her money back quite like the az, and half an hour later I had shed myself of a useless gadget and had some extra cash in my pocket. Yay!

After some food shopping (lots of nice fresh veg and some free-range chicken) came home to make a curry for lunch and wait for the prospective tenants to show up. Really this had been something that had kept me awake a couple of nights in Zahara, and here it was five days until September 1st and there was still only one tenant next door. It had been a gamble keeping on the extra apartment for another year, but Pepe had given me the summer off, so to speak, and so I decided to risk it. But it meant I had to have three tenants by September 1st. Well, the first person to come and see the place loved it and decided in about five minutes that she would take the interior room. So half an hour later I had her deposit money and we’d made plans for her to move in the next day.Β  The second person to come also fell in love with the remaining room (with fab view of the Giralda tower) but said she wanted to think it over for the rest of the day. I promised her first option if someone else came along and wanted the room … which is exactly what happened a few hours later! I couldn’t believe it. There I’d been all worried about getting stuck paying extra rent and within a day the whole place had been rented out until next July and I’ll be making a bit of income from the deal. Yay again!

Meanwhile, Nog & I made some headway getting stuff planned for English classes and placed ads in new places. I finally got all my holiday things unpacked and did several loads of washing. Enjoyed some lovely low-carb food. And by the end of the day things really felt like they were falling into place in a very good way. It seemed an auspicious start for taking my life back. One day at a time.
