Finally got to see Julie & Julia on Sunday.
I’d heard that La Streep’s performance was magnifique! and I wasn’t disappointed. For once her penchant for bizarre accents wasn’t offputting, though when Nog first heard her speaking as Julia Child he said he was reminded of a Monty Python sketch. And I was left with a strong desire to make boeuf bourguignon and debone a duck.
Has anyone else seen it?

I thought it was a rip. Everyone who wants a husband like Julia Child had, raise your hand. I’ll skip the duck business (and the lobster) but what fun!
I saw the Julia Child exhibit here at the Smithsonian and recognized the Boston kitchen when it appeared.

I haven’t seen it. I remember watching her over the years, particularly towards the end when she had a show where she invited other chefs on and they would have a blast in the kitchen. She was hysterical.
And, of course, there is ALWAYS the SNL skit with Dan Aykroyd… I still fall over laughing when i see that…

Julia Child’s cookbook was like a Bible in my house when I was growing up. I had a lot of fun watching the movie.
