This is some of the stuff I did yesterday so that I could just sit back and enjoy Christmas Eve today. After yoga class (last one till January 8th) I met my friend Juan for a Christmas brekky and I was very surprised to see he had a prezzie for me – a book! Which I shall look forward to reading over the holidays. Then I met Nog and we did some food shopping, getting a whack of veggies at the neighbourhood greengrocer and then heading to the supermarket where we got the main course for Christmas dinner: a small leg of lamb, some pork ribs and – a totally spur of the moment purchase – a few quails (don’t ask).
Then it was home to do quite a few house chores, whilst enjoying some surprisingly good cava (at just 1.95⬠a bottle). So now the bookshelves are all cleaned and organised, floors are washed, the Christmas tree lights are fixed, and I also finally got the “azahar sevilla forum” up and running (except for “decorating”), thanks to Andy.Ā Oh, and I put that very pretty festive WP wallpaper on my iPhone. And so, casa az is looking very Christmassy and there is nothing left to do but watch some favourite Christmas films, prepare food, and enjoy one of the best Christmases ever.

What are you guys up to?

C2G2 is here already. C3B1 lives here, of course, and C1G1 will arrive tonight with friend.
Today will be spent putting up the Xmas tree, cleaning, making beds and prepping tomorrow’s veg + making the kedgeree for Xmas Day brekkie.
When C1G1 arrives, we will be celebrating her birthday. The difficulty is in finding something sufficiently special – without stuffing ourselves so much that we can’t enjoy tomorrow – and without me having to be cooking for hours when I’ll be doing that tomorrow. It’s looking like bung-in-the-microwave curry at the moment.
And now – strong coffee!

How about salmon steaks with a ham & cava sauce? Dead easy – can send you the recipe if you like.
I am presently having hot coffee and an M&S mince pie in bed.
Discovered (of course) that there are still a couple of things to get from the supermarket. And then Nog and I will stop by a few favourite bars on the way home to see who’ll give us free drinks and food. š

Just did the last of the Xmas shopping… (read ALL of my Xmas shopping), got the fixings for the Trifle (miraculously, they not only had whipping cream but also had jelly rolls!!!! Usually they are sold out of both and I have to resort to hunting all over the National Capital Area, including Quebec, or use some other sort of cake and Miracle Whip which is gross), got a Poinsettia for Mom, and my Goody Bon-Bon slippers arrived in the mail… YAY!
We will head to my sister Shirin’s and spend the day, as we always do with her and her husband and my beautiful Niecie-pie, Gabby. My other niece and her boyfriend will be there, too (my other sister’s daughter — the one who doesn’t borrow money and not pay it back…).
We are planning a little side trip to see my nephew in Pickering for a couple of days at some point, too. He’s the one who I consider my son and he thinks of me as his mother. Then, my brother’s half-brother (the one whose wife died in the Fall) is up from Halifax so we will see him while we are in the area of TO. It will be a real family-visiting Christmas.
Tonight, we are headed to my friend Krys’ house for Christmas Eve dinner, a traditional Polish meal, with her family…. YUMMMM (except for cabbage rolls). I may even shave my legs for Christmas!

The excessmas celebrations are done for this year. We do it the 24th here in the Far North. My both youngest children spent the afternoon/evening in the Lair. Some food, mostly vegetarian, was consumed and and a few gifts exchanged. Phone calls were made/received from family and friends – nice to talk to you, az! – and I had a nap while watching Disney cartoons on TV.
Leopardess is sleeping in my lap, not making typing an easy task, and I’m still in my jammies. It’s snowing rather intense outdoors, and I’m about to decide whether to go to the Sports Center to attend a biking class I signed for, or if I shall cancel it. I must say the latter seems more appealing at the moment. Even the thought of getting dressed and walk some twenty-thirty minutes on untended paths and roads makes me even more idle…

Happy Holidays, dear one. I asked Santa to send you just two things: improved health, and more smiles than you know what to do with. xoxoxo

Thanks Anne. Truly all I want for Christmas is a clean PET scan.
