These two guys are slaying me!
It’s just too adorable how they have become inseparable these days. And you can really see how Loki looks up to Azar as the “big brother”. He’s very monkey-see-monkey-do and tends to copy whatever Azar does, such as eating asparagus and grass. He also copies Azar’s favourite cuddle position in bed, and tucks his little nose under my chin (but on the other side of my head). The other night they were nose-to-nose like this, both of them purring away like mad, and I thought I would melt on the spot. Loki even submits to grooming by his big bro and they always siesta together now.
As for whatever was ailing Azar, having Loki around has really perked him up. He’s eating well now and his “dislocated shoulder” must have healed itself because the two of them tear around the apartment chasing each other like maniacs. So nice to see Azar getting some exercise! Meanwhile, Loki is a lean mean kitteh machine … he plays hard and sleeps hard. He also eats a LOT, and I think it was watching him eat all the time that got Azar interested in food again. So it turns out to have been a good match after all. Phew!
More kitteh cuteness below the links…
Attacked in bed by ghostly apparition … oh hai!

Azar looks rejuvenated! Guess we all know who’s to blame for that 🙂

He also looks so HUGE! He used to be the “little guy” compared to Sunny. Though I have a feeling that once Loki grows into those massive paws of his (not to mention those ears!) he will end up quite a bit larger than Azar.

How wonderful the boys are buddies now. And how fast that happened! Azar must be a very sociable cat and needed someone to pal around with. I’m so glad it worked out so well, and I’m sure you have plenty of kitteh fun to distract you from boring chores. . .
Great pictures.

thanks for this…with my cats at odds with each other, it’s nice to see that friendship has overtaken your two. (And that Azar is blooming…)

Well, I spoke too soon about Azar eating “normally”. I thought he was back up to speed, but today he seems to be off this food again. Gave him a “force feeding” about an hour ago and he seems a bit more content now. Weird. He is obviously hungry, and appreciates it after he is fed, but still sometimes has trouble eating on his own. And today he barely touched his asparagus! Well, one day at a time…
Azar really does have a big heart. I’m sure if he’d been feeling better when Loki arrived they would have hit it off straight away. Still, it only took 3-4 days.

I can’t begin to tell you how happy seeing them together makes me feel. And I am crying less about Sunny now too. So maybe I needed a kitten as much as Azar did.

Azar is a good kitty to welcome the new kitten like that. Doesn’t always happen that way. They are awfully sweet together, I’m glad you’re an inveterate picture snapper.
Snibble Azar for me and tell him to quit worrying his mother this way.

Mmmmh… Be careful though, they may be planning to throw you out of their flat.
Ah no, silly me, they still need well-trained staff 😉

Good news that the furry boys are firm friends 🙂
Has Azar had his teeth checked? I’m assuming the vet probably checked this out when you were there with him recently but a dental infection of some kind would explain him being hungry but not eating.

Well, the vet had a quick look inside his mouth during two consultations and said his teeth looked very good “for a cat his age” and that the inside of his mouth looked all pink and healthy. Plus he was on that course of antibiotics & anti-inflammatories, so that should have taken care of infections.
Yesterday he ate well (dry food) but then threw everything up in the evening. So today I am back to giving him the special wet food (high protein, high calorie) via syringe. The fact that he doesn’t struggle during the feedings tells me that he’s hungry and knows he’ll feel better after he is fed. But he won’t even take the “pablum” on his own. Meanwhile, he’s playing with Loki and running around, so he can’t be feeling too badly. I just don’t know …
But yes, it is lovely to see them together. At least I know Azar isn’t lonely anymore.

He doesn’t have something lodged down his throat, does he? A fish bone or something?
