Today’s Photohunt theme is “covered”.
When I first came to Sevilla in September 1993 one of the first things that struck me about the place were the white awnings that covered the narrow streets in the centre of town. But it wouldn’t be until the following summer when the temperatures got up to 50ºC that I would appreciate their very practical use. At the time I just thought they looked really neat. These pics were taken many years ago, pre-digital camera.

I remember that when you saw them being put up you knew the heat was just around the corner. They sure make a difference.

Yes, I forgot to mention that they are put up late spring and taken down again around the end of September. Not up yet…

(You realize that although I was never all that interested in visiting Spain before, your posts have added it to my list of places to visit . . *sometime* in the next 5 years!)

I can’t believe that there are not cats! Covered in duvets, or fur, or love! However, this is a great take on the theme and very interesting to think about the civic devotion to citizens’ comfort and health. Of course, it must make the downtown more attractive to consumers, too.
I’m afraid my offering is what you would expect from the Havens. . .
