This year Peter and I didn’t “do” gifts, preferring to go out for a couple of nice meals during Christmas week instead, and then go to Málaga earlier this week to celebrate my upcoming 55th birthday. But I also got some lovely surprise prezzies from friends… a third Binky book to add to my collection, two DVDs from my Amazon wishlist and a box of Christmas goodies and cat toys (the cosmic catnip banana is a hit!) from Sweden.
Tonight is the Cabalgata, a parade featuring the Three Kings and hoards of shrieking children, which I will try to avoid. But I still want to see the “mapping” Christmas light show on in the Plaza San Francisco (last night tonight). If I manage to get there I’ll take a video of it. But first some grocery shopping as it’s a bank holiday tomorrow and have been away all week. Hope I don’t get swept up in the crowds!
What did you get for Christmas?
My cats have a catnip banana too and it’s a great favorite. Wonder what that tells us about cats. I think my clients brought me more catnip toys than any presents intended for me, which is fine in my book.
I got a half case of assorted white wines from a friend who lives in a senior residence where a wine salesman comes around and delivers on discount.. which tells us something about senior residences.
And a very well-off couple gave me a WHOPPING gift card to my favorite organic market. I ran there today and bought all sorts of stuff I usually don’t spring for.

My sister gave me a “Coach” wallet and a gift certificate to get another charm for my Pandora bracelet. My brother sent me some bamboo “beads” (sort of tiles) with mottoes on them to make into a piece of jewelry. My niece, Ange and her boyfriend gave me the DVD collection of “Dead Like Me”, including the movie. I know I got something from my niece, Gabby, but I am drawing a blank.

Usual sort of stuff really – most interesting were two books – one a story of Colditz from the German point of view, and “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom.
