This was basically my Saturday, from start to finish. Started off with removing EVERYTHING from my bedroom and then waiting for the IKEA delivery. They finally came around 3 pm and then I started trying to put my new bed together. It was all going well until it didn’t (realised I’d put something on the wrong way – twice!) and a painful hour of undoing and getting it right was rewarded by flipping the bedframe upright and having two pieces fall off. Fuck. By then I decided there were enough screws and whatnot holding the thing together that I’d just throw the mattress on top, hope for the best, and then attempt the drawers another day.
The good news is that the new mattress is wonderful and even Loki decided he liked it well enough to spend the night with me (first time he’s ever done that!). But my new bed still has a way to go before it looks like this. Stay tuned…

Good luck! I hate putting stuff together!

It’s been pure hell. Also, back is killing me, as are various muscles I’d forgotten existed since I don’t usually spend hours squatting and crawling around on floor.

I actually kind of like assembling the puzzles, though it takes away some of the fun if you need it done in time to go to bed.

Yes, I think you can safely say that took some of the fun away…

Ah, you should have ordered this while we were there. Sara is a whizz at Ikea stuff – it appeals to her scientific mind. Along with Greg it would have been done in half an hour.

And I could have made sangría for everybody! Now you tell me….

Mrs BBJP and I ordered a new bed once – part of the deal was that they would take away the old one. It arrived on a day when I was off work sick – it took me ages to get it sufficiently assembled that I could have a lie down and go back to sleep. All those parts where you think, it doesn’t matter which way that goes – until you find out that it does . . .

Sorry about posting as a reply to BBJP but for some reason I can only reply to other posts, not make my own reply. Weird.
I always get on ok with Ikea furniture for some reason. I’m so awful at anything DIY related that I spend an awful lot of time marking things off on the parts list and looking at individual pieces, so that by the time I come to put them together I can practically do it with my eyes closed! Never tried a bet, though. Last bed I bought was a divan and that was a doddle.
