For those who don’t know a serranito is the most sevillano of all sevillano montaditos. It’s a crusty bread roll filled with grilled pork, jamón and grilled green peppers. Mesones del Serranito has been keeping this local montadito going for 40 years now and today celebrated their anniversary by making the WORLD’S LONGEST SERRANITO spanning the length of the Triana Bridge (approx 150 metres).
Slices were then sold with proceeds going to social works carried out by the hermandades in the barrio Arenal. I didn’t stick around for that as I’m no fan of LARGE FOOD, and even less so when said food has been hanging around in the hot sun for a couple of hours. But apparently a good time was had by all, with an outdoor concert and cold beer accompanying the super serranito.

With the recent change in local government we Gastro Guías are doing our best to stay in the loop, finding out who is who now and where we should be. This week we had a great meeting with Javier in his new office at the amazing Costurero de la Reina building.
Honestly the most unexpected team I could have imagined and we are great together. Plans are afoot. Stay tuned.

I was told they were only authorized to do the left knee. I thought it would be like the x-ray, with both knees done at the same time, but they used this exact machine (see pic – same brand and everything) which, as you can see, is for one knee only. So fine. I was still thinking this was going to be easy peasy until the technician finally got my leg locked into position and then said… “it’s very important that you do not move AT ALL”. Again, not too worried thinking it would be like an x-ray, hey no problem. But it turned out I was not allowed to move AT ALL for 25 minutes. Gaaahhh…
