And just as beautiful as ever.
Luna’s birthdate is a guestimate, of course. When I first took her in (Sept 2011) I thought she was only about 6 weeks old because she was so tiny, but the vet said she was more like 3-4 months, just small from being malnourished and living in the streets. We soon put and end to that and in no time she was all plump and pretty.

Omg how did my darling girl get to be 9 years old? Yet she is still as kittenish as ever. Today I caught her catching some rays in one of her new favourite spots next to the patio windows. Happy Birthday sweet girl. I love you so much.
And of course Morcilla shares a birthday with my beloved Azar – they were born exactly 18 years apart.

Guess how old Peter is today? 😉 For his birthday he said he wanted to do a tapeo visiting some of his favourite bars so we ended up going to Bodeguita Romero, Casa Moreno, Casa Morales, Casa Román and Las Teresas. Ran out of time to have birthday cheesecake at Salmedina as they were closed by the time we left Teresas, but…
… on the way home we ran into my fab five star “sherry students” from Monday’s Sherry & Tapas tour and, when they found out it was Peter’s birthday, invited us to have a drink with them. Found a spot open in the Plaza Alfalfa and ended up having lovely cava in lovely company, a perfect way to end a fun birthday afternoon 🥂

You know those things that you didn’t know you needed until you got one? Well say hello to my new potato ricer, a birthday gift from my friend (and neighbour) Tania. I am pleased to say it makes the smoothest creamiest mash and apparently I can do other things with it too as there are three attachments. Plus it’s dishwasher safe. I’m the first to admit that I am impossible to buy gifts for (perhaps I should set up an Amazon wish list?), but this time Tania got it right. Thank you!

As I was saying on Friday (my actual birthday) I didn’t actually get to do anything super SPECIAL to mark this big time 65th birthday of mine, so instead it ended up being a lot of small lovely somethings over the weekend. I also realised that as things (hopefully) open up this year, I can still celebrate this being my 65th year by doing whatever wonderful thing comes up. Thanks to everyone who shared this day with me, either in person or virtually. xx
