Just finished painting! Yay!

Really wasn’t sure if we’d get round to painting the hallway before our holidays were over, but finally got it done with about ten hours to spare. And I even managed not to fall off the top of the rickety ladder (no small feat with these dizzy spells I’ve been getting).

Used to be I quite enjoyed painting but I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for it over the years. Now I just have to decide whether I’m going to clean the roller, brush and tray or just toss them like I usually do. Yeah I know it’s a waste but throwing them out now will at least save the in-between stage of having them soaking in the bidet for a week.

Gosh, what an interesting post. Must be Sunday. . .

Just one more week of holidays!

Time sure does fly when you’re having fun. I have to say that this has been one of my best ‘holidays’ ever, just hanging around at home and doing whatever. What I’ve enjoyed most is a delicious sense of freedom – not having to be anywhere at any specific time, not having to do anything unless I actually feet like it. And not feeling guilty about not getting certain things done. For example, the hallway remains unpainted. Feh, who cares?

Well, off for a morning walk while it’s still cool. Saw some perfect shoes for winter the other day . . . think I’ll go see if they fit.

UK:

  • Stonehenge

OVERSEAS:

  • The Eiffel Tower, Paris
  • The Louvre, Paris
  • Times Square, New York
  • Las Ramblas, Barcelona

Well good. Maybe more of them should stay home then . . .

Living in the centre of Sevilla, tourists are regarded as a kind of necessary evil. Sure they bring in lots of cash but tourism is also responsible for my neighbourhood changing from a barrio with family run corner shops and bars, greengrocers, bakeries, bookshops and newsagents, to chain-run ‘typical tapa’ bars and practically every storefront selling exactly the same crappy souvenirs. And every day I have to plough my way through herds of tourists blocking the sidewalks and even the entrance to my front door.

Anyhow, what did you think of the article? Have you ever been disappointed by a world famous tourist attraction? What are the most impressive sights you’ve ever seen while travelling?

As some of you may know, I rent two apartments here – the one I lived in since 1994 and the one I live in now (next door) which I moved into five years ago. The reason I keep on the two apartments is because I’m still hoping one day to use that space next door for my office/biz stuff, should the clothing biz ever take off. And meanwhile my landlord doesn’t mind me subletting the other place because he knows I’m a very responsible tenant. In fact, whenever any apartments come up for rent here he always asks me to find a good tenant for him. It’s a nice deal. Well, except when I don’t have enough tenants next door (I rent out the three bedrooms individually) and I have to make up the lost rent myself. But so far I’ve been pretty much breaking even. And I’m loathe to give the place up as it would be so perfect as a work space.
