BBC team make US Spanish journey
This Saturday, I am setting off on a two-week long trip across the United States with a simple goal in mind: to only speak Spanish during the journey.
I am not trying to achieve or break any record. I just want to see what it is like to cross the country without uttering a word of English.
Big deal – looking at the map of the route they will be taking it doesn’t seem like much of a challenge in terms of finding people along the way who speak Spanish. Why not try cutting across the country from New York to San Francisco instead?
I’d actually quite like to see a Canadian version of this, showing someone going from Victoria to St John’s only speaking French.

1000 Films To See Before You Die
The Guardian’s ‘essential list’ of films as well as a few quizzes can be found on that page. I only got 3/5 on quiz-part one (haven’t taken the others yet) and I’ve seen 382 of the thousand films listed.
How about you?

L’Oréal lashed over Penelope Cruz mascara advert
Love that headline. From the article…
It said: “Penelope Cruz was wearing a few individual false lashes inserted into her natural lashes to fill in the gaps in her natural lashes for a consistent standard of lashes.”
A few indidividual false lashes??? Just click on the pic and check it out. I’ve been passing a huge in-store ad showing this photo in El Corte Inglés almost daily and my first impression was – ha! Yeah right, as if any mascara alone could do that. But someone obviously took serious exception and reported it to the Advertising Standards Authority, which upheld her complaint. Well done, I say!
I also love the Fast Food: Ads vs Reality website linked to here at Agency Spy, where I first came across the L’oréal ad controversy.
Which ads particularly bother you in terms of how far they stray from reality?

Does anyone here use netvibes?
I came across it this morning whilst checking my blog stat page … I saw that one of today’s ‘referrers’ came from netvibes.com and I wondered what it could be. So being a curious cat I clicked on the link … and then ended up spending an hour or so making myself a very pretty netvibes page!
Except I’m not really sure what it’s good for, you know? I mean, as it can be accessed from anywhere, it seems great if you often travel or don’t have your own computer as you can organise all your links and RSS feeds there. But so far it looks like an online personal agenda. Is that really all it is? Am I missing something?
