What a great time at the 2nd Ecológica KoK Forum. I was able to attend a couple of the presentations on the second day and they were both super interesting. First up was a chat called “Cocinas del Mundo” with Juanlu Fernández and Marcos Nieto @canabota, Pedro González @kinu and Carloz González @elcevichano_es, moderated by Inmaculada Ruíz @iesheliopolis. Next Paco Ybarra @pacoybarram executive chef @fundacioncruzcampo gave a workshop on the traditional processes of fermentation with virgen sea salt: Colatura, Almorí and Garum.

I wished I could have stayed for more but I was happy to have made it to this excellent two-day event organised by my friend Mónica Trujillano @guiagastronomicaelcomensal. Impressive job, educational and entertaining. Well done Mónica! Looking forward to the next one. 👏👏👏

on the road

It’s been quite a while since I’ve travelled anywhere. Out of choice, much like I have barely worked over the past couple of months during the peak of Covid-Flu season. But three things have come up in March that have pushed me to MAKE PLANS.

The first is an awards event with the Academia Andalucía de Gastronomía in Córdoba weekend after next, which will also be a birthday present for Peter. Then mid-March I’m doing a day trip to Jerez to see my friends Julie & Steven who are back in Spain to celebrate Steven’s 80th birthday. The following week I am finally getting back to Sanlúcar de Barrameda after far too long.

Hotels and trains have been booked and I’m actually quite excited now. Of course we will be fully masked on public transport and will test before leaving for each trip just in case. Fingers crossed!

This has gone totally viral on Spanish (gastro) twitter.
Un bar único igual que todos.
A unique bar just like all the others.

the old hood

I used to live just around the corner to the right.
It’s still beautiful but it’s not a neighbourhood anymore.
Because there are no neighbours.
