Welcome Loki!
I am probably tempting fate by choosing this name (the original choice “Tapita” just didn’t feel right when I said it out loud to him) but he is definitely a source of mischief and mayhem. Just getting these few photos was extremely difficult as the little thing doesn’t sit still long enough … made me realise that it’s been over 16 years since I’ve had such a small kitten in the house. My goodness, they get absolutely everywhere! All the time!
Anyhow, after much ado, the little guy arrived here on Friday evening. He was a bit confused at first, and Azar (still recovering from his mystery illness) wasn’t very pleased to see him. But after a bit of hissing and spitting by both parties, we seem to have reached a place where they can be in the same room without any obvious rancour on Azar’s part. Loki was keen on being pals from the first minute he arrived (he was living with several other bigger cats in his foster home), but I think it’s going to take a bit of time for him to win Azar over.
Adorable watching him though. And yesterday I actually caught Azar playing with one of Loki’s toys – batting it around the livingroom – and my heart almost burst with joy. Though of course, it turns out my whole apartment is a huge cat toy – who knew? Loki will play with anything and everything, including thin air. But to see Azar playing like that, especially as we are still having to force-feed him, really made my day.
So whaddaya think? Cute or what?

Got my appointment with Dr Ana the oncologist today at 5pm. Meanwhile, Azar has been all floppy and unwell over the weekend, so I will have to take him to the vet’s this morning and I’m worried sick. Could it be a delayed reaction to the vaccination? Is he dying? I can’t help but think of my last oncology appointment on November 17th and how that same morning I’d taken Sunny to the vet’s … and then that night he lay dying in my arms. I mean, hospital days totally suck anyhow without all this extra crap. So much for taking things easy and preparing myself for my next hospital visit.
I’m a wreck. Azar is not well.
I am not coping.
Fuck.

Seems it ain’t over till the fat lady sings.
Yesterday I got a call from the Defensa Felina volunteer (Livia) who has the kittens in her house. She said that she was taking them to the vet’s for a check up and to get the chip put into Tapita so I could take him home this week. And although I had already decided (or so I’d thought) that I couldn’t take him because of the FHV, I decided to at least go and talk with the vet and ask her advice. Afterwards I checked with two other vets and it looks like I might still be able to adopt this little cutie, just not as soon as I’d wanted to…

Yesterday I went to the foster home where the three little kittehs are staying with one of the Defensa Felina volunteers, to finally meet them all in person and decide which cat was going to become Azar’s new buddy. And oh, what a decision to make! They were all adorable. Nog and I took turns cuddling each one, but the more we swapped kittens the harder it was getting to not want to take all of them home. So we put them down and watched them walking around a bit and then we put them in their little basket. And while the other two slept the little orange kitteh decided he still wanted to play…
