This didn’t really count as a “last day in London” since we basically just got up, got dressed, had a quick coffee and then got an Uber at 9 am to the train station, which then got us to the airport in plenty of time. But you know… all I could think about was seeing (and snibbling) the cats again. And this is where I say thank you once again (because I told her lots before, during and after the trip) to my friend Ania who stayed at Casa Azahar while we were away, and looked after my darlings.
For Ania it was also a bit of a treat because she loves cats but can’t have any of her own as she travels so much. And it was also a bit of a “staycation” in that she got to live in the centre of town for almost a week. I knew she would take good care of the beasts, and she didn’t even mind the list of “stupid cat rules” on the fridge door. But what I appreciated most was Ania sending me daily pics of the cats, because she knew how much I would be missing them. Especially that little monkey, Morcilla.
Muchas gracias Ania!
One of the good things about having someone come to stay in your home is that it gives you a push to CLEAN THE PLACE UP. I mean, Casa Az is generally tidy and basic cleaning is done on a regular basis, but this week is all about getting some extra spring cleaning stuff done before leaving for London on Friday.
So you know, been trying to stick to (mostly) low-carb options recently, and decided to make one of my favourite salads: wilted spinach, feta, garlicky bacon, chopped hard-boiled egg. Then I ended up with too much so turned the “leftovers” into an amazing omelette for flatmate Peter. Now and then, living with me has its advantages. 😉
All the cats were fine, as always, after the Sanlúcar Getaway. Two nights max is the longest I will ever leave them on their own. But although well-fed and watered, and with an extra sand box and all that… this is what they missed the most. And me too.
It isn’t that all the cats here don’t get along – they (mostly) do. But Loki is such a big glomping galoot and sometimes he plays rough (clamping his massive jaws around Morcilla’s tiny neck, for example). But these two are pretty much evenly matched and I love watching them chase each other around until they get tired out and then curl up together for a cosy snooze. Here they are clearly planning some mischief…
