Springing forward tonight – the bonus being that when the cats start pestering for brekkie tomorrow at 7am it will actually be 8am. Sort of…
As always, I smelled it before I saw it. And then I had to search around until I found the source. The FIRST AZAHAR OF THE YEAR was spotted in Plaza Nueva at dusk (which explains out of focus, dimly lit shot) and marks my happiest time of year in Sevilla. Wish you could all smell it too.
Since the first day of spring was all wet and chilly, I spent the evening snuggled up with the cats and binge-watching (actually rewatching) Game of Thrones season 4 (season 5 starts next month and I can’t remember a damn thing from the previous season). So here’s Loki on my lap with his big orange head resting in the crook of my arm, Morcilla having a little grooming session on my “office chair” and Luna (out of shot) over on the sofa. Doesn’t Loki look totally blissed out? He’s one big hunka lurve that guy.
Yesterday I went out on an “azahar hunt” because I’d been seeing so many buds on the orange trees and reckoned they must be blossoming somewhere by now. Nothing! Then today during a hectic afternoon of various appointments, I took a turn down a street I’d never been on before and there it was! I smelled it before I saw it… happy happy happy.
The first time I ever saw a field of wild poppies was when I lived up north (or northish) in Salamanca. The surrounding fields were filled with a beautiful array of spring flowers in red, yellow, white and purple. Stunning.
So today when I went to an open house at Rompemoldes Creative Craft Space and saw this cheerful display of enamelled-ceramic poppy jewellery I just had to get me a pair of earrings. Aren’t they fab?
This will coincide with the first “happy toes” of the year as tomorrow is going to FINALLY be sunshiny sandal weather and I will have to paint my toenails red to match my new earrings.
Love spontaneous purchases like this. What was your most recent one?
