I mentioned in yesterday’s post that one of the things I’ve been able to enjoy again are daily walks, and yesterday was no exception. Nog and I headed out late in the morning and I told him he was the ‘tour guide’, so for the next couple of hours he led me through the old Jewish quarter, down near the Alfalfa, and then up to the Ronda, all via little side streets, some of which we’d never been on before.
We ended up near Becerríta and I told Nog I had to get an outside photo of the place because I forgot to do so when Pipocas took me there a few weeks ago. So I tried getting a good shot but there was a guy hanging out in front who seemed to be waiting for someone and not likely to leave very soon, and so we decided to go inside for a cold drink. Well … after having been walking around for the past couple of hours we were actually getting hungry so Nog offered to treat us to a snack. We tried a couple of the special tapas del día on the menu and they were simply divine.
Above is a revuelto – basically scrambled eggs with potatoes and melt-in-your-mouth stewed bull’s tail. And below is grilled sea bass topped with slivered potatoes and served with marinated red peppers, onions and tomatoes. Along with a cold beer and chilled glass of white wine it was a truly exquisite snack. Kind of fed more than our appetites, if you know what I mean.
Boy, I love living in Sevilla! 🙂

Don’t you Sevilla people do anything but eat yummy food? *envy*
Here I am, stuck in the cold rainy windy North were such delicacies are rare. – and trying to get rid of some of the fat I’ve accumulated the last year.

Between Nog & Pipocas and other friends treating me to yummy food, I think I’m eating out more than ever these days. I just got another invitation for lunch today from my friend Carmen – my choice of restaurant. Decisions, decisions …

I see how the community around you is supporting you by making sure you eat well! I’m so glad you have such a great support system around you. And then the excellent food and company must nurture your spirit as well as your body.
I’m still jealous of all the sidewalk cafes and little bars that exist in beautiful Sevilla.

Well, I haven’t dared step on the scales for a few weeks, hmh.
As you say, it just isn’t food nurturing going on … it’s wonderful getting out and spending time with friends over good food and wine … which also nurtures the spirit.
Today Carmen and I met at Bar Laredo for lunch, a Sevilla landmark tapas bar recently reopened under the auspices of the Robles group. It’s in such a fabulous location that it’s a shame the tapas aren’t more exceptional, like the tapas at Becerríta. Still, they were quite tasty . . .

Well, it’s 12.30 and nobody has called to invite me out for lunch today, so Nog & I will just have to have grilled pork tenderloin (presa) with sautéed garlicky mushrooms and grilled courgettes … sigh …

Honestly, Az, sometimes those are photos of little snacks, they’re more like Food Porn.
And I just started a diet. VERY unfair! But, it’s so good to hear that you’re getting out more and enjoying all your tapas.
