My, doesn’t this look healthy!
Yep, I’m ‘going green’ this week in an attempt to help prepare my poor old bod for the upcoming major surgery (third one since May) in which they will slice & dice my liver and maybe hack off bits of my peritonaea. I really should have had that zipper installed. I’m assuming they will just reopen the scar from the last op, otherwise my middle section is going to start looking like a road map. Perhaps I should take another scar shot before I go in so I can have before & after pics …
Anyhow, I feel quite positive about doing a healthy ‘detox’ week and I’m hoping that it will mean less hospital time if I go in feeling physically strong. So it’ll be mostly low fat meals this week with lots of veg (especially broccoli), and I’ll also start making my fruit purée again. Plus I’ll keep taking daily walks and riding the dreaded exercise bike. AND I’ll be drinking lots of green tea (with the occasional glass of
which is, according to the Anti-cancer book that healingmagichands sent me, a natural anti-inflammatory).
Right, time to get cooking …
Good luck detoxing. They may cut just to the side of your scar, as scar tissue is hard to work with. Sometimes you just wish for a zipper.

I’m not much of a blogger (or at all, to be honest), so I tend to forget to look here. I’m very relieved about the good news.
All my love and best wishes.

It won’t hurt and might just help!
About the zipper, tell them you want them to do lipo and a tummy tuck while they’re at it!
Good luck and we are thinking good thoughts about you over here.
You should probably read today’s post before you have surgery, I have decided that I am running for President on the Party Party in 2012, and it might make you laugh when you read my diatribe.

Definitely take a before and after shot of the scars. If you show me yours, I’ll show you mine, k?

I wish I could say that the green tea and broccoli looks delicious but… bleugh.
Still, it’ll be doing your immune system all kinds of good, so that’s the main thing. Don’t stint on the red wine to wash it all down with, though! 😉

Geez. I don’t have any scars. (Yet, anyway)(Well, not physical visible scars).
By the way, where is the garlic and olive oil in that picture? Braising your freshly steamed broccoli in a little olive oil with chopped garlic with a sprinkle of turmeric makes a very delicious presentation. At least we think so over at the Havens.

another thing that tastes good with broccoli is sesame seeds and flaked almonds dry roasted in a pan then mixed with a little sesame oil and lemon juice. you just pour it over steamed broccoli and it is delicious!
did you get my email?

Yes, got it and have just replied, nursemyra. Emails sent to that other address tend to ‘go missing’ (at least, from my memory) so it’s best to use the one I have posted on the sidebar here.
I actually quite like just plain old steamed broccoli, but the other suggestions sound very good too. And I also like green tea, but I have to remember to make it as I’m not much of a tea drinker.
I made a very healthy & vegetably stew yesterday that will last a few days, as well as lean pork & broccoli in hoisin sauce for lunch, and am going to make some hummous today. So I am feeling very virtuous (at least, food-wise).
I’ve also got to start cooking up some meals to freeze for Nog, for while I’m in hospital.
I will definitely take another scar shot this week though I’ll have to figure out a way of showing both scars without exposing too much fat belly. And yes, I think I will ask them about doing a lipo & tummy tuck while they’re at it, hmh. 🙂
*waves to Bel* Nice to see you here!

My friend Jeri asked her doctor to do that when they were doing her complete hysterectomy and he told her he didn’t do plastic surgery. She thought he could have at least tried to line up an associate. 😉

Fruit puree, is a very good idea, hon. All kinds of healing in the fruits…
Broccoli, pan-braised in a smidge of olive oil, salted and peppered to taste, and a light drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Almond slices optional, but they’re powerhouses of antioxidants.
Or just some fresh steamed tiny little brussel sprouts. Yummmmm.

I don’t think Nog would allow me to even bring brussel sprouts into the house, SC. I love them, though.
I must get some almonds to snack on. Unfortunately, the ones I like best are the fried & salted ones. 😉
The other day Nog took me out for a tapa snack and we actually had a tapa of broccoli & asparagus. But we made up for it later by having quail breasts and langostines wrapped in bacon. You can see the photos here (scroll down to photos 42-44). Oh and check out my new watermark!

Actually, she’s allowed to bring them into the house but she has to eat them out on the balcony. 😉

There should be a law against brussel sprouts.
