sunny-sunday

Well, not really. Especially because it was such a gorgeous sunny Sunday and I was feeling just fine after my week-long post ferry ride from hell ordeal. I woke up early and started working on Sevilla Tapas, which I’ve actually been doing all week. Check it out and let me know what you think of the changes. Kim has been very generously helping me out with some geeky stuff I don’t know how to do, which has really made a difference. And today I stuck in a couple affiliate ads, including a way-cool Amazon widget in the sidebar showing books I’ve chosen that relate to Spain, food and travel.

By about noon I was just starting to go cross-eyed when Nog asked if I would like to go out for lunch with him. What with me being away, and then in bed a lot of this past week, we haven’t actually seen each other much lately, so it sounded like a very good idea. Nog suggested Yebra, because we hadn’t been there since zoomer was in town last October, and it’s also a 45-minute walk away, which meant we would have a nice walk there and back…

So we got to Yebra about 2 o’clock and there was a perfect table there for us in front of the open front doors (very lucky because on a Sunday it’s almost impossible to get a table there) and we sat down to a fabulous lunch of prawn starters, grilled sea bass with baby eels & prawns and stewed pork tenderloin with pine nuts and cinnamon.

Afterwards we took a roundabout long way home because I wanted to check out a part of town called the Alameda de Hercules, which is still missing from Sevilla Tapas. When I first moved here in 1993 that neighbourhood was the infamous drug and prostitute area but in the last few years it has become quite trendy and chic, though apparently new restaurants open and close there before the paint is dry.  Anyhow, as it was such a gorgeous day (I was actually wearing sandals – first time this year, other than last week in Asilah) a nice long walk after lunch was not only very enjoyable but I also spotted about half a dozen interesting looking places to visit in the future.

Then Pablo called when Nog and I were heading home and asked if we wanted to meet for an after-lunch drink, and twenty minutes later we were all at the Trinity Irish pub having vodka cocktails (birthday déjà vu) …

Finally rolled home about 8 o’clock and flopped down in front of the TV for awhile. Then made a sandwich and did a bit more work on Sevilla Tapas. Someone commented on hmh’s blog the other day saying, “Isn’t it amazing that we practically kill ourselves doing projects that we choose, but if someone else forced us to do the same thing we’d think we were mistreated!”, and that’s exactly how I feel about all the work I’ve been doing on the tapas website. I’ve actually been really enjoying it, but in fact a lot of it is stuff I can’t imagine anyone being able to pay me to do.  Really interested in getting some feedback on it, even though it’s not quite finished yet. (hint, hint)

So it ended up being quite a fun and fabulous day.
I wish all Sundays could be like this one.  🙂
