This one is for ismarah… š
The other day I was complaining talking about wet feet and mentioned my small but select footwear collection, which consists of two pairs of Camper shoes and 3-4 pairs of Mephisto sandals of various ages. I’ll never forget the first pair of Mephistos I bought. They looked so comfortable (and cute!) but the price tag was more than somewhat daunting. But my friend convinced me to try them on and I knew right then and there that I was never going to take them off (well, you know what I mean). That was about ten years ago. Since then I have bought one new pair of Mephistos every spring, relegating the older ones to “second best”, “beach” and “rain” sandals.
I missed getting a pair last year because the ones I’d bought spring 2008 didn’t end up getting worn much that year due to that cancer thing that mostly kept me at home May-December … but I sure wore those 2008 babies out last year! And so, after my awful hospital day yesterday I was walking home through the shopping district after leaving Maria Paz at the bus station and spotted these guys. And I knew. These are going to me my 2010 Mephistos. The black ones.
Right after I score a few more classes and my first tapas tour…

Those shoes look totally comfortable. I wish I had managed to convince myself to buy some when I was in Seville, they are totally outrageous in price over here, costing over $200 a pair and no matter how great shoes are I simply cannot spend that much money on them. But I will for sure have money set aside the next time I am in Europe to invest in some.
How is Azar today????

These ones are 99 euros. They had some other nice ones but spoiled them by doing wonky stuff with the soles, presumably in an attempt to make them more “stylish”. Shame. But these ones will do just fine.
Azar is still lethargic and still hasn’t had a poo. So I guess it’s back to the vet’s today for an xray and possibly blood tests. š¦

Thank you!
Did you look at the ones in the link I sent? I have similar ones to those coming my way – will report on the comfort level as soon as.
I find that the only shoes I’m comfortable in are trainers (some sandals are OK) but mostly I wear boots. Shoes just don’t sit right on my heels and I always end up with tons of blisters and bleeding bits which is not fun. Those look comfy though – I wish you all the work and dinero you can handle so that you may have new shoes very soon.

I thought you would appreciate a shoe post as you are clearly much more of a woman than I am. š
I did look at those toe shoes and the freaked me out! One of the best things about sandals is being able to wiggle my toes. Those things would be like every toe wearing its own shoe. But the rest of the shoe looks very comfy.

Thanks so much! Was following yesterday and I’m thrilled that today was sunnier. You’ve just inspired me to jump the cliff and buy some of these shoes. I’ve had them on my “covet” list for some time now….
Take care,

oooh, they look comfy. Nothing worse than uncomfortable footwear. I bought three pairs of the same sandals this year because they are so comfortable and cheap… and because I seem to be unusually hard on footwear; they never last a year.

Birkenstocks are my secret sin; I’m so glad you’re taking aim at a new pair of kicks. How’s Azar doing?

There are a couple of Birkenstock styles I like, but I don’t find them as comfortable as Mephistos. Their moulded sole isn’t a good fit for the shape of my feet.
Azar is going back for xrays today. Hope there isn’t a serious blockage somewhere.

More shoes – these are for pet owners…
I have a pair. Never wear it as it KILLS my heels. Of course, I can’t give it away as I’m a ridiculous size. They’re cute though.
/aside/ I am a lot of woman, yes. Reducing weekly though. /aside/

My first pair of Mephistos – and only so far (no one around here sells them) – were purchased at Value Village in the States for $3, and they were never worn. š I still have them!

FInally another Memphisto lover. Her in Holland everyone wears Birckenstock during summer. I only wear Memphisto, much more comfortable sandals. Good to see that the Spanish also know what a good choice is š
