Going to Málaga sometimes feel like I’m carrying on a love affair with another city. What if Sevilla finds out? I’d really hate to have to choose between them. Honestly, nobody was more surprised than me when Málaga stole a piece of my heart last summer. Up until then I had never considered living anywhere else but in my beloved Sevilla, but I suddenly found myself checking out areas of town that felt like “home” in the same way that my street in Sevilla does. I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t decide between beachfront or city centre, so just as well that this isn’t a decision I’ll have to make anytime soon, especially if I can keep having occasional visits like this week coming up…

I’ve been back to Málaga twice since last summer – once in December with Nog & Jessica and again in June to meet with my new part-time employer Victoria and see her vineyards. Both of those times just for a couple of nights. This time I’ll be there for a whole week and it will be a working holiday. I’ll be meeting with Victoria again as she is in the middle of pressing the grapes for her dry moscatel, Botani. I want to get enough material and info to keep my social media job going, which has been challenging due to limited access to “the source”. But I really love this work so fingers crossed that Victoria wants to continue with that (freelance jobs never feel secure). This is a priority.

Other than that, I am planning to meet a couple of Twitter friends who live either in or near Málaga, and I’m quite looking forward to that. And if things are okay with the cats then Nog is going to come down on Friday for a couple of days and return home with me on Sunday. Unless Azar suddenly gets sick again this should work out – my friend Bizzy has said she will check in on the boys once a day while we’re both gone. I know I’ll still worry about them, but Nog really does need and deserve a break after working so hard this summer.

I’m so lucky that my friend & student Manolo lets me stay in his lovely beachfront apartment, so these trips only end up costing train fare and tapas. And this time I will be in town for Feria, which should be a bit crazy. I’ve heard that during the day they ride the horses through the city centre instead of the faregrounds. Anyhow, between Feria, vineyard & bodega visits, meeting friends and some serious tapas research, it should be a very nice week. I will also have Shadow with me and hope to get a lot of work done on my Sevilla webpage and the online Sevilla Store.

But I will also find time to bathe my feet in the Mediterranean.

Well, off to catch my train now … hasta pronto!
