Every summer I have to “lighten up” in terms of what I’m going to carry around over my shoulder. Usually this means finding a small shoulder bag for “essentials” (wallet, keys, iPhone) and then a cute summery hand-held straw bag for “extras” (camera, fan, sunglasses, charger cables, this and that). When it’s 45º I just can’t carry all that shit in one shoulder bag. And so hey, imagine how pleased I was to find this perfect lightweight Kipling 17cm x 19cm bag today (but wtf is with that gorilla?). Now the hunt is on for small brightly coloured straw bag. I’m hoping for red. Or maybe yellow…

Of all the things on my ridiculously long TO DO list, this was probably very very near the bottom in terms of importance. So of course I just spent the past two hours doing it! Duh.
I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to focus much these days. In theory, as I am still pretty much housebound, this should be an ideal time to catch up on things (as I mentioned over here) but so far my days remain only semi-productive.
Anyhow, this new photo album is a collection of stuff from the street – graffiti art, windows and doorways, pretty tiles – that have caught my eye over the past year or so. All are up on my Instagram too. You’ll see a lot of imaginatively painted store and bar shutters as well as garage and house doors. The reason for this is because somehow graffiti vandals will respect another person’s work and not defile it (no doubt wrongly assuming they are brothers in arms). Meanwhile, there’s a massive difference between graffiti art and shitty blobby tagging, but hey, as long as this works. Makes for some interesting walks around town.

With crutches.
26 Saturday Apr 2014

I’d been looking forward to the Return of Kyran & Claire for months! And then it turned out that their five days in Sevilla coincided with me being on crutches and not being about to go out and play much. But we still managed to pack in a couple of serious tapeos. In retrospect I may as well have done the sherry tour I’d promised them. Each time we met up it was only for “a quick tapa” and somehow ended up with me getting home several hours later…

I really didn’t want them to leave. But they promise to be back again later in the year. 🙂
