Gotta admit I’ve been pretty lax about using proper sun protection so the other day I dug out some Nivea spray stuff (originally bought for Peter’s head) from the back of the bathroom cupboard and gave it a try. And uffff… way too strong a smell for me to have anywhere near my nose (Peter doesn’t notice it). I started looking around for another brand and was immediately overwhelmed by choice, so it was Twitter to the rescue. This came up a couple of times when I asked for some advice and it sounded like just what I was looking for… then I had to either find it here or order it online. Turns out my favourite neighbourhood pharmacy stocks it, and so now I’m all set for the longer summer days. What sun protection do you use?

Another fabulous Twitter Pal meet up, this time with Fred & Susan. I’ve known Fred on Twitter for ages (Susan is more of an Instagram lurker) and we have a lot of the same London Twitter friends in common, so it was great to finally get together for an afternoon of tapas, wine and chat. And omg what a wonderful day it was. We started off at Zurbarán and finished at Salmedina with a seafood feast, though of course not properly finishing without a cava penúltima at nearby Catalina La Barra. Thanks for a delicious day guys, come back soon!

Yep, it’s that time of year again, and each year it happens earlier. No, this is not about climate change, it’s about that other FORCE OF NATURE called Luna. Cat Stand 2024 has happened a full month ahead of last year’s version. And if you scroll through that list you’ll see previous ones dated in June and July. To be honest, this thing is basically ripped to shreds after about six months but I mean really…

Anyhow, below you can see my little Lunatic checking out the work in progress as I put the thing together (can practically do it blind-folded by now) and within a minute of it hitting the floor she popped inside the cubby hole, claiming ownership. Later Morcilla got up on the top perch (where she likes to ambush me with cuteness as I come through the door) so they are already learning to share. Just kidding. The stand belongs to Luna.

el bichero with anne & paul

Met up with Anne & Paul at the Vinos de España event in Jerez yesterday and afterwards Paul treated us to a splendid lunch at the new El Bichero location just outside the city. El Bichero is famed for its fish and seafood and used to be in the centre of town just off the Plaza del Arenal. This new place has a distinct country club feel to it with sweeping views from the terrace (where we ended up enjoying an after-lunch penúlitima). After that it was back to theirs for yet another penúltima before heading home.

Thanks again for such a great afternoon and for treating us Anne & Paul. See you at Vinoble!
