mortar pestleBazar Victoria – one of my favourite places in town – was forced to close its doors after more than 100 years because the fucking bank wants to use the premises for something else. Despite public outcry this piece of living local history ended up having to change location over the summer and they reopened this week a couple of streets away. So I stopped in today and was happy to see that it’s still a great shop full of fabulous clutter and I decided I should finally buy myself a mortar & pestle. Isn’t it beautiful?

I have actually been considering one of these for ages but always wondered if it would just end up collecting dust. So while Paula was wrapping up my purchase I asked her if she remembered the time I almost bought one. And she said… “You mean the time I took every one we had out and showed them all to you?”. Erm… yep. That time.  🙂

LG TV
So I went out for a few groceries this evening and ended up with a new TV! And lucky I have this blog because I was wondering when I bought the last one and a quick search told me it was in May 2008. There’s not anything particularly wrong with the old one, and this one isn’t much bigger (40″ instead of 32″) but it has WiFi and other snazzy features. I’m still not 100 percent sure what tricks this one does and will have to wait until Thursday to find out. Does any of this make sense to you?

Television SMART LED TV, diagonal 100cm, Ultra HD 3840×2160, 4K upscaler, DVB-S2 / T2 / C, H.265, 3x HDMI, 3x USB, Scart, CI, LAN, WiFi, DLNA, HbbTV, web browser, webOS 2.0, Speaker 20W MR15 magic driver, energ. Class A

All I know is that I’ll be able to watch YouTube on a big screen!

sandalias
Arpy @andalucinda will be so proud. Not only did I buy a pair of sandals this past week… I bought two! I picked up those very sensible Mephistos in Málaga, and today I finally ended my search for the elusive cute red sandal. Seriously, NOBODY is making cute red sandals anymore. I almost got these red Mephistos a couple of years ago – ordered them online but then it turned out they were out of stock. So I’ve basically been without red sandals all this time, if you can imagine. But I’m all stocked up now and looking forward to lots of comfortable walking for the rest of the summer (well, actually until the end of October).

Have you been taking advantage of the summer sales?

mas kipling
Someone stop me! I’ve just bought more luggage. Well, the summer sales have just kicked in and so, well, why not eh? But seriously, after this I am all luggaged up. Anyhow, remember when I splashed out on that fab Kipling dufflebag for my London trip in May? Well, this is the smaller non-duffle carry-on version, but in purple. I almost went for the same colour as the duffle, but then thought matching luggage was going a bit too far. Except that I also bought this matching overnight case that slips onto the suitcase handle…

Anna @annalibera is going to scoff because she had actually convinced me that the little case was too expensive and not worth it. But then I realised it could actually double as a handbag if I am going somewhere for the day and wanted to carry some extra stuff with me… AND it was 30% off!  Yeah, yeah… I know. Stopping now.

new kiplingYep, it’s getting to be a thing with me and these Kipling bags. You may recall my first one (that looks almost exactly like this one but is about 1/3 the size), and then last summer when I was in Madrid I found another one on special offer that I thought would be big enough to be more of an all-purpose bag. Turned out it wasn’t, but it was almost big enough so I kept using it. And then I found this baby. Yeah, that stupid gorilla was the first thing to go, but there is room enough for everything I need to lug around, including my iPad mini when I’m travelling. Really I just like the style of these bags, and the fact that they’re machine washable. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another leather bag again.
