This bit of brilliance from Rancio’s insta. Never change, Sevilla! ❤️

Enough already. I cannot walk (in the streets) without crutches (since August 2024). And I cannot use an umbrella whilst hobbling along on crutches, for obvious reasons. Last winter (rainy af – yes, much needed but still) made me realise how much this limits me. So… hello polka dot poncho! Not quite a famous blue raincoat but let’s see if this helps.

What a difference a week makes. We’ve gone from 45ºC to temps between 32-35ºC and with a lovely breeze too. I know I said I didn’t care what I spent on AC this summer – I was going to be comfortable in my home! – but I have to admit when the July bill came in it was a shocker. August will probably be similar, if not more, but from now on… just sitting here at my desk with the balcony doors open and my fan on and it’s perfect. Pic taken while hobbling home (that’s my street!). Every day I am so happy to still living in my favourite barrio. 💙

I know it looks pretty but holy fuck is it hot. Most days this past week have been from 5-9 degrees hotter than the average for this time of year. Nine degrees hotter is a lot of degrees! It’s starting to come down a bit (from 42º to 37º) but only “cools” down to about 25º overnight. Someone on Bluesky said they wondered how I live here in this heat and I said I am sensible and mostly stay home with the AC on. I like to think I’ve convinced at least a few people NOT to come here for a summer holiday. We need our water supply and electrical grid intact (and for us!). ☀️ 🔥
