This showed up on one of my feeds… one of those “X years ago today” things… and OMG. Look how little and sweet! She still hadn’t grown into her paws. This was the time I went to Málaga in July 2013 when Morcilla was still a baby, just over three months old, so I took her with me. I remember back then I thought she would become my regular travelling companion, but it turned out it wasn’t that easy to find accommodation that would accept cats. Oh well.

“Cat City” is a thriving community of gatos along the Paseo Maritimo in Málaga. This time I was pleased to see that most of them had clipped ears, which means that some kind person had taken the time and expense to have them neutered. In this photo there are seven cats – can you find them all?

I’ve been taking photos of this particular belén (nativity scene) in the Atarazanas Market in Málaga for years. Usually the figures are nestled amongst the chiras (small clams) but on this day they were sold out, so they were perched on pulpo instead.
“And look!” one of the guys said to me, “We have a new addition this year! The three kings crossing a desert of prawns!” He was so excited and so was l. I will never stop loving this random humour and joy that exists here…
