Did a bit of shopping, had a spot of lunch, now it’s home to a nice hot shower, my day PJs, the cats and a nice chilled bottle of cava. What are you guys up to? 🥂 💙 ✨

While out enjoying the Christmas lights on Monday we stopped for a couple of tapitas at Bodeguita Romero and one of them was this totally tender and tasty Presa Ibérica al Palo Cortado. I mean, it was seriously OMG good. So I decided that I would try to replicate it as a New Year’s Eve dish. Then I got this 600 gram monster and have since been trying to figure out how to prepare it! The Romero family have given me some vague instruction, and my friend José Pizarro has also helped out. But I’m still kind of going in with a bit of knowledge but nothing step by step to follow. Stay tuned!

I just read about a town in Galicia called Vilagarcía that celebrates NYE at 12.00 noon on the 31st of December, rather than wait until midnight. They do the whole shebang, with a countdown and eating the 12 lucky grapes, but at a much more sensible hour. Me, I’ve been doing this for years (without the grapes). I prefer going out to celebrate during the afternoon, usually having a lovely lunch with a friend, drinking cava, etc, so that by New Year’s Eve I am back at home in pyjamas with the cats, watching movies and chatting with friends around the globe on whatsapp.
This time lunch was with Lucy @sparkybakewell, and we had a fabulous time. What do you like doing on New Year’s Eve?

I can’t remember the last time I went out on New Year’s Eve! But the other day a friend called and said she and her husband were having family and a few friends over for dinner and drinks, and that they’d love me to come. So off I went and I had a wonderful time. And I got to eat my 12 lucky grapes at midnight – another thing I haven’t done in years. The last one was a bit tough to get out of the glass, but I managed to munch it down before the last bell tolled. Lucky me!
Wishing you all a wonderful 2016!

It was a cosy New Year’s Eve at home as the annual Christmas Cold arrived that morning and I was left all stuffy and sneezy with painfully blocked ears. But just before going to bed (long before midnight) I looked outside. Love this old ramshackle house and especially the fact that it has not just one but TWO Christmas trees. Not a common sight in Sevilla.
