Slowly evolving… a new part-time job. This is from a blog post I did on Azahar’s Sevilla blog yesterday announcing a page where I’ll list local non-touristy “alternatours” for people visiting Sevilla. Meanwhile, I’ve been working on taking this further to help people plan their entire trip. As with the Sevilla Tapas Tours, which began as a natural extension of the “hobby” food blog I unintentionally started six years ago, this new venture has stemmed from all the help I’ve been giving my tapas tour clients over the past couple of years. But rather than just help people after they’ve arrived (often with really crap itineraries) I will put together a fab Andalusian holiday for them based on my experience and contacts here. I think it’s going to be great!

Remember when I took that day trip to Córdoba last year which included a visit to the feria there? Well, since then I seem to be turning into a bit of a feriante. Which is weird as I don’t much like the massively famous (and massive) Feria de Abril here in Sevilla, though this year I ended up going twice – haven’t done that in years. I also haven’t been to the fabulous Feria del Caballo in Jerez for years – five to be exact – so I have booked off a couple of days next month to do that, in case I feel like staying overnight. I know it will feel a bit poignant because it was the day after coming back from that feria that I doubled over in pain which ended up being the start of the cancer nightmare. Hope nothing like that happens again!
The other day I found out about the Feria de Primavera y Fiesta del Vino Fino in nearby Puerto de Santa Maria, which started this week and goes until Monday. So I think I’ll be popping over there on Sunday. Not sure if I’ll make it to the Córdoba Feria this year as I want to go to their Patio Festival which finishes the week before. Ah well, can’t be everywhere. I have to say that I really prefer these much friendlier ferias with their casetas open to the public. I’ve also been in Málaga a couple of times during their feria, which spills into the streets and bars in the centre of town. I haven’t actually been to the fairground there – maybe this summer? Anyhow, it’s fun planning these little get-aways. And although I’ve been so busy with tapas tours that it’s hard actually finding free days to take off, the tours are also making the trips possible.
Have you guys been planning any trips?

Honestly, this guy looked way more magnificent than I was able to capture. Kind of like when I used to try taking photos of Azar – the ALL BLACK thing kind of works against catching all the gorgeous details. But he was gorgeous.
The other horse of the day that I missed was an amazing creamy white albino with a stunningly beautiful woman riding him – they went by in a flash and I looked everywhere to try and find them again to no avail.
Am now home with Feria Feet and need to take them to bed… xx
