My blog pal healingmagichands and her husband Jim are in Sevilla.
I first met hmh on h2g2 almost two years ago and she started her blog here on WordPress shortly after I did. Given her love of photography and writing, the blog format suits her much better than h2g2. I like it better too.
Anyhoo, they arrived in Lisbon early yesterday morning when their cruise boat landed and then drove to Sevilla … got here just in time for a late lunch at Modesto (those are post-lunch photos up there). Then a visit to casa az where they got to meet ‘da boyz’ and afterwards we took a short walk around the centre so that Ellie and Jim could work out where they were and how to get places (important stuff like the supermarket and where to find Mephisto sandals) …
Looking forward to a very nice week. It’s great when friends visit. π
Oh my goodness, I wish I were there, too!
I bet you’ll all have a wonderful time, and I’m looking forward to more photos and posts all about it.

As of yesterday they hadn’t called home, dq. Not sure if they are planning to or would rather just wait until they get back.
They are staying in this lovely apartment, which is just around the corner from casa az – I’ve got to pop over later on because I forgot to give them my list of good places to eat (they already know where to have brekky).
Nog and I will be working during the week but I’m sure we’ll find some times to meet up for tapas. And we’re thinking of going to DoΓ±ana Park on Saturday.

Tapas, tapas, tapas! That’s all you ever talk about, Az. Don’t you folks eat regular food, or is everything in decadent dainty portions (served with wine, of course) over there?

That’s just so unfair, Lori. I’m sure I occasionally mention cats too!

Portugal? π
Yes, gato al ajillo is a favourite tapa, Archie.

Oh dear – I spent much of last night reading about Portugal that my mind wasn’t in gear. (I have been looking at the history of the Alans – some of whom got to the West coast of Europe along with the Vandals). Umm – I hope that is a suitable exspaination

Archie, I think that was a good save… π
I’ve eaten dog knowingly, and perhaps cat unknowingly…and dog ain’t a mild meat, so I would have to serve a red wine with it if I weren’t serving it up in bo-shing-tang (a rather spicy soup…so I google it, and this is what I get! Ew.)

A good save? The man thinks I live in Portugal!
Apparently cat tastes a bit like rabbit. I wouldn’t know.

Eep, I totally missed your ‘exspaination’ (groan) the other day, Archie. Yes, it is quite suitable. π
Well, hmh and Jim left today. On Friday we’d got together with my student/friend AgustiΓn (aka guspemar, who is a proud owner of one of hmh’s tie-dyed tshirts). Had lunch at Becerra, which Nog had to miss because he was working. But yesterday he more than made up for it.
Started off having lunch at Eslava and then went to Rayas so hmh & Jim could sample the best ice cream in Sevilla. Then a nice walk around the centre of town and somehow we ended up in Bar Campanario for a jug of the best sangria in Sevilla. Then a stop-over at ay MaricrΓΊ for a bit more wine (fuck knows why!) before a last visit to casa az … finally decided that more food was definitely a good idea. So we went to Bodeguita Romero and finally lurched home and said our ‘hasta luegos’ (I really hate goodbyes).
Woke up this morning and realised that this was the third massive hangover I’ve had this week, which is definitely a personal record. So I think a bit of detox is in order…

Az, I LOVE that picture! It is so sweet, and I think you captured the way we feel about each other almost perfectly. What amazing light. And for some reason I don’t look too fat!
I too needed detox after our night! It was so much fun, the aftermath just didn’t seem fair. I was having some heartburn when I tried to go to sleep so I tried AlkaSeltzer. Big mistake — what the Atlantic Ocean at its rockiest tippiest best could not do, the alkaseltzer accomplished. But then I was able to sleep.
