Another Christmas angel story …
About a week or so before I went to Málaga at the beginning of December I received an email from someone (let’s call him SR) who’d been to my Sevilla Tapas site and was going to be in Seville soon. He asked me for some recommendations and I was happy to provide some for places that were near his hotel. He then said that he and his wife would like to meet me and invite me out for some tapas & wine while they were here, but as luck would have it I was going to be in Málaga the weekend they were going to be here.
Anyhoo… SR and his wife had a great time and especially enjoyed Vinería San Telmo, which they visited three times during their stay. Later I was asked if I could get recipes for some of the dishes they’d tried. I’ve managed to get three so far and am still waiting for the owner of San Telmo to email one to me. Meanwhile, I was surprised one day to receive a donation from SR for my cancer fund. I don’t mention that on Sevilla Tapas, so it was clear he must have found his way over here. I was very touched and of course the donation was very appreciated as well as much-needed. And then a couple of days later he sent another donation, saying that he and his wife wanted to treat me to a special holiday meal!
After a bit of thought I decided to spread the joy a little and, instead of having one special meal, I invited Nog to several special Christmas tapas treats. He’s been so great at inviting me out for tapas this past year (wouldn’t have got so many photos for Sevilla Tapas without him!). And now thanks to SR & wife, I have even more photos – and Nog & I got to enjoy a few pleasant outings. You can see the results of our holiday “tapearing” above. I was especially happy to get to visit some new places and add them to Sevilla Tapas. Ah, the things I do for my public…

I was heading to bed (yes… later than my “at a reasonable hour” but that was because I decided to make some headway into the work I have to do to catch up from before XMAS) and now my tumbly is rumbling….
I am going down to have some popcorn… Since that is about all I have without cooking an entire meal.
Oh… and maybe some cinnamon toast!

Yep, very nice talking with you. And a work call takes precedence over a casual chat, so no worries about having to go. I’m sure we’ll coincide online again soon.
And popcorn is a fab meal, especially if it’s Orville’s.

You have to wonder why Orville’s wraps each individual bag up in plastic so tough that you have to practically break a tooth in order to get a bag open.
It’s popcorn, not gold from Fort Knox.

The great thing about tapa treats is that Nog & I often just share one tapa, which then costs about 5-6 euros including a drink each. With two tapas it’s about 8 euros. Not bad! And it gets us out of the house.
When we went to La Giganta the other day (and had those fab potatoes in basil sauce) we really “pigged out” – shared four tapas and had two drinks each and the bill was a whopping 14 euros. Of course some places are more expensive, but for the most part it’s quite cheap to eat out here.
A couple of weeks ago someone from the 11870 group told me about a tapas guide that was being given away with a local newspaper, so I went out and got one. It’s actually very good and has given me some good ideas about how to put together one of my own. It also was great for research as there are a LOT of tapas bars out there that I still haven’t been to, especially outside the centre of town. Not too far out, but say, across the bridge and still within walking distance. So I hope to visit some of those soon and start expanding Sevilla Tapas.
